Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had treated myself to a new Toshiba 40" TV and decide to have some quality sound and went for the well rated Panasonic SC-HTB520EB-K Sound Bar. It has taken me 3 days to get it up and working despite calls to Toshiba and others. Be aware of buying a TV that does not support optical digital or HDMI (ARC) because the sound bar connects only by an optical digital audio lead or HDMI (ARC) which my TV although new only has SPDIF Coaxial Out. It is only through sheer perseverance and reading that I came across this on the Maplin Site which once connected did the trick and works fine but has cost me a further ???40 for converter and leads. Thanks to Mark at Maplins Hayes for his support and knew what was required. Just wish I had of spoke to you before saved me a lot of time and phone calls. Regards J Lucas

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just replaced my Blu-ray player, and the new one only had a Digital Coaxial Audio out connection, not an optical-out (TOSLINK) connection which I need to connect it to my ageing 5.1 surround sound amp. Bought one of these to solve the problem, and it works like a charm. Don't bother buying an expensive 'digital' phono cable either, mine works just fine with a standard phono cable that I had lying around. Result.

I have a Panasonic Viera TV without Digital Optical out and is not ARC HDMI compatible. I have just had delivered a panasonic sound bar which only has HDMI and digital optical output. Will this converter sort out my connection issue?

Asked by: Dougal68
Unfortunately this item doesn't convert HDMI signal. If the sound bar has digital optical access then product code A14KF may help you with the correct connections.
