What would I need a light meter for?
This light meter is for testing where light needs to be a particular level. You could use it for photography, movie and scene settings as well as testing school experiments or industrial practices.

How easy is this meter to use?
The light meter is simple to use. Turn the switch to the range required and take the sensor out of the casing. This will then give you a reading that updates 1.5 times per second.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of equipment. Don't forget to remove the lens cap which covers the whole of the sensor paddle (not in the instructions!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very prompt delivery (within 24 hours) good piece of kit and very simple to operate, instructions very easy to understand. For general light readings it is just what I need, I will certainly look to toward the Maplin web site when looking for equipment as a first choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sort your Instructions out! The light meter works just fine, once you have realised that you need to take the cover off the light meter!!!!! Not one word is mentioned about this. I spent 15 minutes trying it and thinking it was broke, until I decided to google the problem. Rant over........ great little device.

How do you install the battery?

Asked by: Kerry
The instructions just say 'open the battery case'. If you lift the panel marked 'OPEN' it just reveals a mysterious storage compartment - no battery. You actually have to undo the screw and remove the back shell of the case.

Good Morning please can you advise on how to best use this instrument

Asked by: Longers
Operating Instructions 1. Select the desired scale with the operating switch and select the desired range (“lux”, “lux x 10” or “lux x 100”). 2. Hold the photodetector at a horizontal angle to the light source to be measured. 3. Read the nominal measured value from the LCD display. 4. Overrange indication : if the instrument only display one “1” in the LCD, the input signal is too strong for the selected range. 5. Replace the photo detector when the measurement is completed.
