  • Built-in media player to load computer audio files

Product overview

  • System is powered from a five channel central mixer & amplifier which powers the two included 25W speakers
  • A portable system powered directly from the mains
  • A built-in media player that can load computer audio files using SD cards and USB memory
  • Audio devices, both professional and off the shelf, can connect to this system using either XLR or twin phono (RCA)
  • Two ¼ inch (6.35mm) sockets for connecting all your performance equipment directly to the system
  • Top hat mounts included so satellite speakers can be positioned in different positions within the room
  • Includes rugged carry case to store the entire system for easy storage or transportation

How can I connect to this speaker system?
This system easily allows you to connect a variety of audio devices directly to the mixer.. You can connect a USB memory stick up to 8GB or an SD card containing your favourite sound tracks directly from your desktop, laptop or Mac. You can also connect audio devices such as MP3 players, iPods, smartphones or tablets using the twin phono sockets or XLR socket. You can connect your microphones or electronic instruments directly to this system through the ¼ inch (6.35mm) sockets on the mixer.

How portable is this speaker system?
The mixer and speakers are designed to be incorporated into its carry case. This allows you to connect the mixer and speaker together to form a single case with a carry handle and move it around easily without being damaged.

How easy is this speaker system to use?
This system is very simple to use. Simply uncouple the speakers from the mixer and mount them on your speaker stands. Connect the ¼ inch (6.35mm) cable from the mixer to each speaker along with the mains power cable. Finally connect an audio source, such as a USB memory stick and turn on the system. This simple setup makes the system ideal for schools, churches, outdoor events, conferences and many other events and activities where an amplified voice or music might be needed.

Where can I use this portable speaker system?
This system is mains powered. However, its rugged ABS plastic design allows the system to be easily used both indoors and out, as long as it can be powered from the mains. While outdoors, be careful not to use it in poor weather conditions such as rain as this may damage the system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this system last week after a discussion with the guys at the Harlow Branch. I went for this model as I wanted to use it at a wedding reception to play a program of music off a laptop or Memory stick. Initially I was worried as the iTunes I played in my car would not play on the mp3 player built into the system. After a phone call to the store I was advised that it has to be mp3 and not mp4 as most iTunes are in this format. This sorted, I converted my music on the Mac and copied the converted files to the USB stick - success!! The sound is great! A big thank you to the guys in Harlow and I would whole heartedly endorse buying this system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bit of kit, considering it`s size & price. As a pro performer, I love it for small venues. Bags of bass response. Really impressive sound reproduction, for keyboards & vocals. FX are a great bonus, not found on similar rival units. One small moan is no footswitch or panel switch for the FX. Bit fiddly to keep winding the knob for talking between songs. But overall EXCELLENT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have used this for over 12months and it is excelent value for money especially with the current discount. My uses have been Village Halls and Churches. What is important is to use speaker stands with these speakers as high as possible. It is possible to overdrive the speakers with the supplied amp however provided you balance your sound set up this is not a problem. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Having bought this system from Maplins two years ago, i was so impressed with everything about this product that i have just purchased a second system from Maplins, to take with me on my travels. The overall build quallity is second to none, but what really got me is the sound, it is just fantastic. Should anything ever happen to them, i would have no hesitation in getting another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this unit 0n the 1st Dec 2013 Well impressed with its sound and Mixing. Hooked it up to my Iphone with audio leads. The mic provided is very good too. Recommend this unit for your Xmas party's and general use. 1 minor issue = No compartment for cables once packed away. but score it 10/10

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great product, with loads of features. But the adition of a foot switch socket to mute the echo for vocalists would be good. Also a display for the mpe track would be handy. But for the price its great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish to make a very positive statement regarding my purchase of a very good value for money product that far exceeds ecpectation. As a pro performer I bought this for my daughter and love it myself

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this unit a few months ago and am absolutely delighted with it. It does all that is claimed in the descriptor and the frequency response is excellent, capable of delivering 140 watts (2 X 70watts) of surprisingly (for this size of P.A.) full-bodied bass, through the mids, to crisp highs so don't let the relatively small size of the speakers put you off. It also looks pretty cool! The supplied mike is quite good although I use a Shure SM58 in preference. The USB function I find awkward to use as it doesn't support a USB memory stick and you have to insert a loaded memory card into the supplied USB adaptor. You therefore have no way of confirming that the track about to play is really what you expect (no visual readout). Of course, for general party background music this would probably not be an issue, but when performing I need to be absolutely sure and prefer to plug my iPod loaded with backing tracks straight into channel 4 and with the iPod mounted directly on my mike-stand I have total control including playback volume. The amp produces a mono feed to its speakers but, if you place e.g. a vocal harmoniser/effects unit in the chain between your mike and the MIC INPUTs and then record from the REC OUT then you have a glorious stereo image(comprising stereo backing track + stereo guitar/keyboard effects + stereo vocal enhancements) that can be further tweaked using the unit's own excellent DSP FX. I also bought a pair of Maplin's speaker stands (excellent - see my review elsewhere) and I intend asking Santa for the Maplin single heavy-duty stand upon which to mount the heavier amplifier unit in order to save bending down to twiddle knobs during a performance. Finally I would add that the unit is also compact enough without using the speaker stands for domestic setups, the speakers being small enough to fit on a shelf. All in all I have no hesitation in giving this item my full recommendation.

Asked by: Zumbafreak
The USB input slot is for the use of a USB memory stick, you can put MP3 song files onto a memory stick, insert it into the USB slot and it will play the songs. You cannot connect your smartphone to this socket to play music from your phone to the system. Full details can be found on page 9 of the instructions we have have provided for you convenience. https://maplindownloads.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/N59GL-Manual-4556.pdf
