Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good price and good product if you understand it's limitations: 1 Id doesn't receive HD television. despite the packaging stating it can receive HD it is not Freeview HD compliant. moderator note: this is correct unfortunately, the item is capable of receiving HDTV but is designed to support the HD Standard found through Europe, this is sadly not the same as the UK standard so will not operate correctly. 2 - It is very slow to change channe l 3 - The remote control is pointless (infra red - not great when you plug this in to the side or the back of your computer) That said, for the price, it is very good - their software is atrocious, but if you have windows media center installed, use that instead. Got a couple of other usb receivers and they get very hot, this one doesn't at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed and running very quickly without any problems. Win7 64bit. Snapshots can be saved in various formats. Capture saves programs in .mpg format making them viewable in all players. Have to use the supplied usb extension cable, unit is too heavy to support itself plugged directly into PC usb port. Didn't try to use the supplied aerial, plugged it into the main roof aerial. For the price it's a surprisingly good product. Didn't use the included editing software as I already have the AVS suite of programs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome product at an incredibly low price for the technology it delivers. The set-up is easy although it does take a little effort to read the manual and to get your head around the functionality. The manual could explain a bit more than it does so it does take a bit of time, if you are 60yrs like me, to figure things out. Overall a fantastic product and super price. Its like having two DVD Freeview recorders at less than ?ъ20 - so a no brainer in my opinion. The picture and sound quality are superb as well. Go on buy one - what else can you buy for the price that does all this does?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great little device. I bought this as my trusty Freecom TV dongle won't work on my Windows 7 laptop. I am amazed by how well this picks up a signal - it found more channels than a TV connected to the same aerial. Works seamlessly with Windows Media Centre, recording two channels simultaneously, and time-shifting smoothly. I never even tried the bundled software. I expected to be disappointed with this after years of excellent service from the Freecom, but how wrong I was. I would recommend this to anyone - but don't think you will get any reception via the absurd little supplied antenna unless you sit it on a transmitter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent little gadget for the price - Bought for Vista but it also works with Windows 7 so not sure why Maplin don't say that in the item description.Moderator note: this is stated in the system requirements I succesfully installed to both operating systems. It is like having two DVD recorders, but really small and portable. The picture quality is great. Also the timeshift function is brilliant. Hard to see how a gadget like this can sell at such a low cost. The functionality could be better explained as it does take a bit of time to work out everything ( well it did me) but once you get the hang of its little quirks for setting things up it works really well. It records to hard drive or directly to DVD - so the USB device does not limit the amount that can be recorded.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little dual-tuner, though the built-in software is a little flaky (I use the free program ProgDVB instead which just detects this device). Tunes nicely, gets a good signal (as good as you can expect from whatever aerial you use), can stream two channels simultaneously with no problem, record it, etc. Great device, just a little shame about the built-in software which is fine once you're used to it but still not the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This USB tuner from KWorld is simply brilliant! Setting it up is easy and it works immediately. I did not bother with the small aerial included, nor did I bother with the included software. I plugged my main antenna directly into the usb stick and used 'Windows Media Center'. The viewing of channels is seamless and smooth with no major problems to report. The USB stick has a built in dual tuner so that you can record two different channels at the same time. You can also record one and simply watch another. This version of the device comes with a remote control which I wasn't that interested in until I tried it. It works very well from a reasonable distance and means you don't have to keep going back to the computer to change channels, the volume or pause, record or playback. The timeshifter function is awesome! You can pause any channel at any point and make some dinner (or whatever!) and pick up where you left off without missing a thing! This is more to do with Windows Media Center, which comes with Windows only. The software that comes with the device is not that good, to be honest, but these days you can always get hold of free programmes to use instead if Windows Media Center isn't your thing. Quality: Video quality is very sharp for SD. Playback on the computer is smooth and sharp. Once the video is burned to a DVD the quality is as if recorded using a top price PVR or DVD recorder. Audio quality - this is very important to me as I like recording off the Freeview radio channels. I was not disappointed. Film4 for example gives a very good performance through this device, but it all depends on the source material. Note: The audio is stereo. I am very impressed with this device. Its compatibility with Windows and the ability to burn to DVD makes it better than any desktop PVR currently on the market for under ?ъ150. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a similar device again, especially from KWorld. Good job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suprised how good it is Bought it to pass some evening time whilst doing some work on the boat. I was warned in the shop that the little antenna is not much good, but as I forgot to pick up a lead to connect to the boats antenna I gave it a go and it picked up all the stations, though for some (Channel 5 group) I have to change the antenna direction to stop the signal breaking up, but for the rest its been fine all night. The Tivme software looks a bit complicated and I have not used it because the tuner works straight away in Windows Media Centre and everything is in order as it should be like a normal tv (epg etc), remote works great after changing the setting which was easy. I can't fault it, Ј20 its a bargain.
