This scanner is a portable handheld scanner that allows you to scan books, letters, photos and more by gliding the scanner over the surface of the page. Rather than having it hooked up to a PC while you scan, the portable scanner has a microSD card slot so you can copy images directly from the page on to the memory card. To transfer the images to your computer you can either take out the microSD card and connect that up to a card reader, or attach the portable scanner up to your computer via a USB cable and drag and drop the files as needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought this scanner from the Chester store about 14 months ago. I have used it on a daily basis to copy ship drawings and magazine articles and large photos - anything that cannot be placed on a printer platen. The results are consistently good with both colour and black/white copies. The unit comes with a nylon pouch and includes batteries (2 x AA), as well as the USB lead to the PC. Once the batteries are fitted the unit is ready to "roll" and scan anywhere! I have scanned documents in log books over 100 yrs old, without damage, and pictures/documents in frames hanging on a wall! All without paying for xerox facilities! The built in software loads the scanned pictures/documents etc as jpeg images straight into my photo browser ready to print or view. The downside? A steady hand is required when scanning , avoid where possible any items with creases as this can jerk the unit and give distortion. Although limited to A4 careful repeated scans will give larger areas to piece together later. All in a great little device that will save a lot of time AND money!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy device I can re-iterate the comments in the previous review - a very satisfactory device; some possible improvements might include: 1) An audible - as well as visual - indication of excessive scan speed 2) PNG would be a better format than JPG 3) Better still, ability to save in PDF, also 4) Conditional on 3, above, ability to concatenate multiple pages into one file 2, 3 & 4 can all be done on a PC, but above would make this device easier to use Also, device can be used with any computer that can read the memory card (not included, but necessary)
