What functionality does the Pi-mote starter kit give my Raspberry Pi?
The Pi-mote starter kit is a low-cost solution to remotely controlling your electrical equipment at home. The kit consists of a control board and 2 RF mains sockets.

The 433 MHz radio antenna inside the Pi-mote control board adds wireless capabilities to your Raspberry Pi. The Pi-mote RF mains socket is a top-selling product that helps immensely with electrical sockets located in awkward or inconvenient locations. It is a mains electrical point that sits plugged into an existing socket on a wall and is controlled by radio frequencies.

It has a range of 30m, including through walls and ceilings so that the sockets can easily be switched off from any location around the home. The Pi-mote board in this kit is also compatible with all of the 433 MHz Pi-mote remote control sockets, so additional units can be added to suit your individual needs and preferences.

Can this be used to control other branded remote sockets (other than Energenie) such as Nexa? They do work on the same radio frequency?

How many sockets are you able to control?

The RF transmitter add-on board can be used with the R-PI to control up to 4 simple Energenie radio controlled sockets independently using a small software program.
