Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice simple PCI-Express FireWire card which seems to work well. Just to confirm, it DOES work on Windows 7, particularly 64-bit (as that is what I use it on). I would recommend changing the driver to the legacy 1394 driver in windows if you are using it for audio stuff, not sure if it is better for other types of devices. Something else to consider - PCI-E sockets are compatible so you can put this 1x card in a 4x/8x/16x socket and it WILL work as the connections are the same (just as some PCI-E 16x sockets on some motherboards will only run at 8x anyway). A bit pricey but a safe choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just to confirm Antony's review, I too have installed on Windows Home Premium, 64bit; no problems except needing an SATA to Molex power adaptor (N07HJ) and SATA extension lead (A68GN) as I only have SATA power in my PC. Not sure about the legacy driver for audio - the driver that was installed automatically seems ok for digital video. Seems ok for capture using Windows Live Movie Maker which controls my Sony Digital8 Handycam with no additional drivers etc needed (very thankfully as I don't seem to be able to get Windows 7 USB drivers for it) Oh, and mine came with a 1.5m Firewire cable, so that was a few ?????? saved!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My old firewire PCI card did not work when I built my new windows 8 video editing machine, windows 8 would not recognize it. Windows 8 does not suply drivers for it. I then purchased this PCI-E firewire card that needs to be pluged into the power supply via molex conector. Windows 8 recognized the card upon booting (no drivers to load) and as soon as i pluged in my panosonic mini dv camcorder via the firewire cable Sony Vegas capture was able to control the camera and record to my hard drive all my old dv tapes. Recomended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just brought this to transfer some old home movies on to my HP N40l setup as a HTPC. Firstly the item does not come with a molex connector and one is needed also it has a full height backing plate, not an issue for anyone using a desktop PC but something to remember if you intend to use with small form factor PC. Another thing to note is running windows 8 64bit and this installed by itself no need for disk.. currently using it with windows movie maker :) very happy
