Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm really surprised I've had a few solar chargers over the years and never been overly impressed but I think this one might just change my mind, I borrowed this from a friend as I'd forgotten mine and during the peak sunlight it's performed great, and better still it seemed to hold 100% of it's original mains charge for the best part of a week. For other reviewer, you need to bear in mind that solar technology isn't like mains power, and for it's size this is a great portable battery with an option to top up by sunlight. I've bought my own now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read the instructions to get optimal use from this product. I combined this device with the Supercharger 5w solar panel (Maplins code: A75ZZ)and between them both they kept a Samsung TABpro tablet and a Samsung S5 in power for 1 week fishing trip BUT only just due to lack of direct sunlight. Great British weather for you eh?! The blue Micro USB to USB cable is solely for charging this device only. It will not work with anything else due to how it is configured. If you need to charge a device by using the USB port on the base of the unit you must use the USB cable the manufacturer provided with that device to charge it with. The only downside is that both of these products need good strong and direct sunlight to be 100% effective. I do not understand why the other reviews left before this one; the users failed to get it to work correctly? Other than of curse they did not read the instructions properly or they expected a lot more from the device than it is capable of delivering? Without even minimal sunlight - this device will not and cannot recharge it self!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hmm not very happy with isis Well it does store the power into its battery from the mains charging. But doesn't quite well charge in daylight. And sunlight it charges but takes a whole day to get 1bar from 3 bars. I don't see why they say it has improved hd solar on it. When its not very efficient.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing My first one let me down in the Sahara and the solar charge never worked.., got it replaced and took it to France.., that too didn`t charge either. As I write I am trying again.., no joy. Doesn`t appear to do what it says on the box... As a portable charger its useful.., as a solar charger its useless.

When you say it's 4000mah does that mean it is it's full capacity when fully charged. Also can it's fully charging capacity e.g 4000mah be reached from entirely sunlight. Or does it need partly charging from USB to be reached till full capacity.

Asked by: Mr P
it has a max capacity of 4000mah when fully charged. the solar cell has a power rating of 220ma it would take approx 19 hours of continuous strong sunlight to bring the battery from flat to full charge
