Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kills replacement batteries At first I was very happy with this unit, the battery lasted a very long time, but after it stopped and I changed the battery it only lasted a couple of days. Even turning it off when not needed (which I had never done before) the third battery failed after a couple of days. Treat this item as throw away after the initial battery wears out, the cost of batteries soon exceeds the cost of a new unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless - accuracy is ±3°C at best The accuracy of this thermometer isn't specified, but I can tell you that it's at best ±3°C, which is is not very useful when you're trying to check that your fridge is running between 0-4°C. I bought one of these in about 2014; for years I thought my fridge was dying because this thermometer was measuring 7°C; when I finally checked the calibration of the thermometer I found out it was reading 3°C too high, i.e. thermometer reads 7°C when my fridge is actually 4°C. I opened the thermometer up to see what kind of temperature sensor it was using - it's a 2-wire RTD which explains why the accuracy is so poor. Also, the workmanship is horrible - the soldering looks like it was done by a 2-year old (see photos). I'd recommend buying a thermometer that has a stated accuracy of ±0.5°C.

Can you advise what batteries these take please?

Asked by: jacq999
It actually takes a CR2025 (2.5mm thick). A CR2032 (3.2mm thick) will fit, but it's very difficult to get the battery tray to close.

how long does it take to measure temperature

Asked by: Pete5
This will start adjusting temperature as soon as the environment changes, time to show accurate temperature will depend on the difference in ambient range.

Hi, what is the hook needed for and how is the hook used? Do I place the thermometer inside the freezer door and where do I place it in the fridge. Will I need to buy two, to measure both the fridge and freezer temps seperately. Thank you

Asked by: nnatilly14
The hook is used to hook the item to a shelf in your fridge or freezer . you would need a thermometer for each.

On a couple of occasions when I've opened the freezer the screen on the thermometer reads LL I took this to mean low level battery and replaced it. The next day the screen read LL . What does it mean.

Asked by: Siggy
If you have changed batteries and get the LL or HH reading just push the Channel button. I found this happens occasionally. Also if it very cold outside you could reach the Lower Limit (LL) and it will not read.

Hi there, I'm looking for a thermometer to monitor the temperature of chicken eggs in an incubator. I need to ensure a 37.5 C temp. Would this product be suitable for that use? Thanks

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee full compatibility for this item in your intended application, as this is not the manner in which it was designed to be used.
