Meet your Google Assistant
Google Home is a voice activated smart speaker that is powered by Google Assistant. You can ask it questions, tell it to do things, and control your smart devices all by using your voice. And with support for multiple users, it can distinguish your voice from others in your home so you get a more personalized experience*. It's your own Google, always ready to help. Just start by saying, "Okay Google".
*Even if you're using Multi-user and Google Home is meant to recognise your voice, keep in mind that a voice similar to yours, or a recording of your voice, could result in Google incorrectly recognising someone else as you.

Get answers from Google
You can get real-time answers to a variety of questions, from weather and traffic to sports and finance. You can even elaborate on your questions. For example, you can ask Google Home "Where is the closest pharmacy?" and when you have the answer you need, you can follow this up with "What time do they close?" or "What is their phone number?". Google Home has far-field microphones so that it can hear you reliably. Multiple people can ask questions and it is not programmed to only listen to one person, making it perfect for the family or flatmates.

Enjoy your music
By simply using your voice, you can ask Google Home to play music, podcasts, your own personal playlists or radio from a variety of different sources including Google Play Music and Spotify. Google Home is optimised for selected music and audio services only; subscriptions may be required. You can enjoy even more compatible audio services by streaming directly from your Android or iPhone to Google Home from one of the 100+ Chromecast enabled apps. Google Home has a built-in high excursion speaker that delivers Hi-Fi quality sound.

Manage your everyday tasks
You can use Google Home as a hands-free way to set alarms, timers, or even use it to add items to your shopping lists. Plus, the Google Assistant can give answers tailored to you like your commute, daily briefing, schedule and more. Google Assistant can help you with your schedule and let you know any updates on your daily commute. You can even tailor it to help in the way that suits you.

Control smart devices
You can link compatible Smart Home products to Google Home and control your lighting or heating with just your voice. When paired with a Google Chromecast, you can even use Google Home to control your home entertainment.

*Please note, some features may not function in Ireland.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At firt you don't suceed Firstly I own an Amazon Echo and thought there is no way it could be better. I got my google home, set it up and thought what a load of rubbish. But wait, after a little patience and even less reading up on google home, it is by far the better smart home gadget. Google home is smarter and way better than the other product, in fact, iv'e sold the Echo on eBay. Google home with a bit of understanding of how it works is more intelligent, more factual, and indeed funnier. I highly recommend you spend your bucks on this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Have been using Google Home for a while now and yes it is limited in what it can do at the moment but it is expanding, a great addition to any home. Main uses at the moment are: reading out my daily agenda, switching lights off and on, verbally sourcing information and using its music function. If you are a little bit techy then this is the toy for you, works out of the box but needs a little bit of fiddling to use 3rd party smart things, would highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great start but more features required Love the idea of a personal assistant for the home and I'm already a heavy user of Google services, so I managed to hold off buying an Echo while I waited for the Home to be released in the UK. The things it does well - shopping lists, morning update with calendar info and news, casting Spotify playlists to Chromecasts, etc - it does really well, but here's still a few things it struggles with. Setting reminders is a must that needs to be added soon, public transport information. and the biggest of all multiple accounts for different users. These should all be coming soon though, and as I look into what else is possible I can see myself buying more connected devices such as Hue lights and a Nest thermostat to get even more use out of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my smart home Added Google home to my smart home yesterday and it is already a winner in my eyes. I've had Amazon Echo Dot up until now and, although it's a great product, Google Home surpasses it in my opinion for a few reasons. The main reason for me is the search function. It's more intelligent, bringing back much more relevant responses and can string questions together so you don't end up repeating yourself. It can actually dictate the content from websites for you (I used it for a recipe) which is really useful and she seems to understand questions in a more natural language than the Echo which is a bit more keyword / command driven. Linking it to my existing smart home products was really easy and had no room conflicts like the Echo. I have Philips Hue, Nest and Wemo switches all connected and working perfectly. The response time for smart home actions is slightly faster too. I've also connected my Chromecast to launch Netflix and Youtube on the TV which all works smoothly. Although I don't use it specifically for music as I already have Sonos speakers, the sound has a good depth and quality for quite a small speaker. Hoping Sonos integration is coming soon! The design is subtle and the coloured light show when it's thinking or listening is a nice touch! Oh and the daily update linked to calendar and news is great first thing in the morning. Only draw back would be the cost to expand this throughout the home as there are no cheaper units like Amazon Echo and Dot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An great start that is likely to keep improving The speaker is great with a good depth of sound. It may not quite be up to running a party but perhaps with two speakers in a room, it might. The microphone is great a picks up your voice amazingly well even in a loud environment. Alexa is good but I've had far fewer misheard commands in the testing I have done so far. Different commands have different levels of usefulness and flexibility and it really depends on your use-case as to how useful they will be for you. I was very impressed with the timer functions and music playback controls. Integration is probably the weakest point of Google Home at the moment as it's lagging behind Echo a little right now in terms of supported accessories. If you use Philips Hue, Tp-Link, WeMo et al then you'll find it great but if you have Lightwave RF or Zwave then you'll have more issues and will need to rely on Domoticz or similar software to get the most out of it. I'm really looking forward to the future updates and integrations that can only make this product get better. IMHO all home automation right now is an early adopter product so if you're not up for a bit of fiddling or a few quirks then you should probably hold off before jumping in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need to allow multiple accounts This is a fantastic machine but it needs to support multiple accounts to allow many people to use it. I usually run Spotify to my Chromecast in my bedroom but if my other housemate changes the music on a different device, it changes mine as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have been called the Curate's Egg On the plus side - it does read out wiki answers when given a question, rather than Alexa's annoying habit of just posting a link. On the negative side, the sound quality is worse and the voice recognition is a lot worse. It has some very interesting "quirks" - I told it to set an alarm for mid-day and it responded with one set for 11:58. Go figure. I've designed and made a few things around the home that Alexa controls, but haven't bothered with this one. The same with music - it interprets music requests in a very whimsical way. An interesting toy to play with. Needs more effort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant speaker! This is my 2nd Google home speaker. It plays every radio station. The sound is fantastic. Really clear and easy to listen too and use. Brilliant size. Use it all the time.
