Your simple home WiFi
Get seamless WiFi coverage throughout your home with Google’s Whole Home Wifi system. Designed to keep up with your increasing WiFi demands, you simply replace your router with a Google Wifi point and it will work with your modem and internet provider to give you fast, seamless signal for your whole home. The Google Whole Home Wifi System offers fantastic scalability for your home network by allowing additional Google Wifi points to be added for larger homes.

Stay in control with the App
Google Wifi is set up and controlled through the Google Wifi mobile app (available on iOS and android), which can be accessed wherever you are in the world. See what devices are connected to your WiFi network and manage existing connections in an instant. You can even set up parental controls; if it’s family time, dinnertime or lights out you can control when your children can access the internet. Share your WiFi network with friends and family using guest access or even prioritise devices to benefit from greater speeds.

Benefit from the best speeds
Network assist technology will be working in the background to deliver you the fastest internet speeds. It selects the best WiFi pathway so you will be benefitting from the fastest possible speeds whilst connected to your devices. If you have more than one Google Wifi point, Google Wifi will connect you to the closest point meaning you enjoy consistent speeds throughout your home.

Easy to set up
Simple to set up, you sign into the Google Wifi app through your Google account and the app will guide you through installation. Choose any Wifi point, plug it in and connect it to your modem, then wait for the light to go blue on your Google Wifi point. The app will then guide you step by step through installation once you have scanned the QR code on the base of your point. Setting up additional WiFi points is just as easy as the initial set up, for ultimate optimisation place each point about two rooms apart.

If you need additional units to further cut out the dead zones in your home, you can opt for another Single Pack or Double Pack

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great features, however performance issues The control app and setting up is very easy. I've had issues with the mesh connection to the second unit - in the same location as my phone which tests 'strong' wifi connection via the app. Features to group and pause devices are superb. On the whole pleased but not as impressed as I was hoping. Tech note: you cannot change the DHCP IP address range the router uses so you will need to renumber your network if you have static devices. Nice design of units, but have not noticed a large performance increase over my existing Virgin superhub router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great.Mesh Network I have had the google wifi mesh setup for about 2 weeks, fantastic coverage of my house, In a two story house I setup four of these units.I have fibre optic which was weaker in some parts of the house, after adding google wifi it now reaches alround the house-- no dead spots-- would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Day One so far so good Really easy to setup. Bit faffy getting Sonos connected but that is because Sonos is a pain sometimes. Speed over wireless is now about 25% better with a huge increase in coverage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement for an unreliable wireless network We just moved to a larger home, which led to my usual wifi strategies failing. Powerline solutions didn't work well due to having too many different circuits in the mains. Using multiple standard repeaters/range extenders was leading to odd behaviour which I suspect was extenders connecting to each other rather than the source router. My tech support role for the home network was becoming altogether too stressful! Having read around a little I opted to take the plunge with these units. There are 'mesh' competitors but I'm taking a bet that Google will have better longevity of support. Time will tell... Observations: - They aren't cheap. In the end I bought two twin packs, the amount of ddwrt-compatible kit I could have bought with the same money is quite scary! - The design of the units has been popular with the family, much nicer to look at than the usual kit, meaning they don't get pushed into the corner, meaning signal strength is better. - As others have noted, these are pretty locked-down in terms of what you can do. What seemed the most troubling was that the IP address range is fixed, so any static addresses had to be changed. Doing that on an Epson EcoTank printer is only for the brave of heart! - Setup, provided you have a compatible smartphone, is a doddle. My approach was to set up a 'competitor' wifi network (leaving my old, slightly broken one in place) and test that I had the units well placed relative to each other and was good coverage around the house. Having established that everything was working, I pulled the plug on all the old kit (except the modem) and changed the ssid and password on the Google units to match the now retired one. Everything DHCP jumped over without a hitch; phones & tablets, smart TVs, Sonos, laptops etc all just started working, and a lot better than they had before. As mentioned the static stuff was a bit more of a pain; in retrospect I should have got them all over to dynamic addresses on the old network before switching. To 'fix' those I just allowed them to be given dynamic addresses then used the Google app to assign them with the addresses (in the prescribed subnet) that I wanted. Of course you can do that with other routers (why hadn't I??) but somehow doing it on the Google ones felt easier and more solid, not sure why. Of course the true acid test is the family - and thus far I've had no issues to resolve nd everyone is very happy with the new network. Tech support just got a lot easier. My main lesson learned is: don't worry too much about the loss of micro-level control, just enjoy a solid and reliable wireless network...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very reliable, whole house coverage I bought this a couple of months ago and I am seriously impressed. Our house is a reasonable size and has been extended, as a result it has several internal walls that used to be external - plenty of brickwork to block wifi signals. Previously I had three wifi networks to cover the entire house. I had experimented with using different SSIDs and the same SSID for the three networks and neither method worked satisfactorily. The set-up for the Google wifi was impressively simple, each unit set up quickly and easily using the app. Coverage instantly improved and after the units settled down there is no part of our house that has no coverage. The app is very good - I can monitor usage and throttle or prioritise individual devices or groups of devices. Fixing IP addresses is a little awkward but achievable by letting devices initially connect dynamically and then fixing the devices IP within the app.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great, works great. Despite having a very fast cable connection to the property, the upstairs areas were receiving a slower, occasionally intermittent WiFi signal and averaging around 17Mbs (just as a point of comparison, I accept this would normally more than enough for your average internet user, streaming etc). However after plugging in these two Google WiFi points the signal was increased, and was immediately testing around 100Mbs range. One suspects there might be a period of stabilisation, particularly after more devices are connected, but this is a promising start. Its incredibly simple to set up, all you need to do is set up the first WiFi point; plug it into the wall and then connect it to your router using the supplied Ethernet cable. Then download the Google WiFi app on your phone or tablet, and the app guides you through the rest of the set up process. The instructions are simple and clear, and once the points were in place and plugged in, there was a quick download of software, and then I had a great WiFi signal. The points also have a Ethernet point to have a wired connection to your device, and the device offers a colour code to identify the correct port, however I found that a wired connection didn't test quite as high as the WiFi connection. Put simply this should be the other way around. This didn't prove much of an issue for my connection speeds, but for a home that averages around 10-20Mbs this might be a little problematic. It isn't the cheapest solution around, but I would say you more than get what you pay for. This solved my WiFi problems, it was easy to set up, and used in conjunction with the app, you have a variety of options available to you for any connected device, including smart home devices. There will be no doubt some users which require more options for their home networking needs, but if you want a solution that simple to use, this is the one for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective I bought the two pack and they cover 2500sq ft easily. The app is brilliant and speed the best I've had. Mesh is the future...Google nailed it!

Can I transport this system around and install it in various different locations as required? I want to use it for boosting wireless video streaming services for Clients.

Asked by: Gmac
This would be possible but you would require to factory reset the unit and reconfigure to the client's network at every new location.
