• Requires a single 9V batteryWhat can I do with this kit?
Listen to your music wherever you go with this MP3 player, which you can build yourself. With a built-in mini amplifier and speaker, you can plug any audio device in through the standard 3.5mm stereo jack and start listening. You’ll get a great sound, and can control the speaker’s volume with the control knob. The whole player fits inside the box it comes in, which creates a cool looking retro speaker that is massively portable with its 190mm x 13.5mm x 30mm sizes, light weight and single 9V Battery (not included Order Code L46AL) power supply.
What can I learn from this kit?
Amplifiers are a key part of most sound systems from tiny built-in devices for basic portable speakers all the way up to 15,000W speakers for heavy metal stadium performances. All audio amplifiers work in the same way – they take an input sound, such as the audio from your MP3 player or a microphone, and boost the signal without changing the pattern so it still sounds the same but louder. The signal is then outputted as a signal that can be used by the speaker to convert back to sound for you to enjoy listening to.
Beyond learning about audio and amplifier technology, you can learn how to make an amplifier from components like resistors, capacitors and switches. No soldering is required for this kit making it a great introduction to electronics.
