What gauge size are the three types of white speaker cable that you have on a 20m drum? Also, what is the difference between the three (hd, hifi, loudspeaker)? I need some for a 7.1 surround set-up. Thanks, Mark.

Asked by: Ma11
The Loudspeaker cable would be roughly AWG 12 (2mm diameter) and the Hi-Fi and HD roughly AWG 9 (3mm diameter). Their differences concern the maximum current rating and as a result the maximum wattage the cables could handle. The Loudspeaker rated at 2.5A, the Hi-Fi at 15A and the HD at 18A.

Could you please tel me what is the cross section thickness (or otherwise the gauge) of this cable? Also can you tell me what is the material it is made of. Is it Oxygen Free Copper (OFC)? Thanks!

Do I need to keep the speaker cable lengths the same.
Asked by: Dave
No there is no reason why you should have to have the same length speakers cable to each speaker if one is nearer to the amp etc.
