How is this device wired up?  I have connected the input live wire to the red/brown 'box' and the output live wire to the other side of the red/brown box.  Similarly, I have connected the neutral (blue) wires to the black 'box.Is this correct>?

The box says suitable for 3a at 240v. However the actual switch says "Ui 600V Ith 10A" Which one is it?

Yes that is correct. The Amp rating is 3A on a 240 supply.
