Rated 1 out of 5 by from The manufacturer of the JM20337 chip (JMicron) that this product often uses and many other products contain has a serious fault that causes data corruption. Jmicron are aware of the fault and often tell people to remove the R15 resistor on the circuit board to resolve the fault. Most say that this solved the problem with the product but some still say they had errors. Ask yourself if you can be bother to buy this and start tinkering about with the circuit board to get it working...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has a fatal flaw: it uses the JM20337 chip; which is associated with data corruption problems. It sometimes returns a zero-value error code which most systems treat as "no error" and continue despite some of the data being invalid. It can also "hang" during intensive I/O requiring a USB bus reset before responding again. This is inconvenient but not as serious as the silent data corruption problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What should have been a useful piece of kit is marred by poor design : 1)The USB lead, at 10 inches, is much too short. 2) The 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adapter does not snap into the 2.5" connector and works loose too easily. Consequently it is necessary to use tape to hold the two parts together. 3) The DC power connector can be inserted either way round - get it wrong and your drive will have no power, although it does not seem to cause any damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This item was very useful as i was about to throw my hard drive away when my old computer broke down. I managed to save all my data which i would have lost. I am now using the hard drive as an external storage drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Using it on a Windows 7 laptop despite this not being mentioned on the packaging as a compatible OS and everything running fine. I have kept several IDE HD's from my computer building days which I am looking to be rid of but wanted to make sure they were fully erased before disposing them. Am happy with this purchase.

Is there any way I could get just the 3.5in to 2.5in IDE adapter? I can't find a 3.5in-female to a 2.5in-male anywhere. (I can only find them the other way around.) Thanks.

I have one of your USB 2.0 to SATA adapters but it seems not to work under Windows 10. Do I need a driver for Windows 10 or is the product basically incompatible?

I have an IDE hard drive,no cables attached. Am I right in thinking that all I need to do is plug your IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 into it to get data from it? Needs a power cable as well? Someone already asked this question but I didn't understand your answer!

Asked by: bobby
You would need a 4 pin molex plug to power it as well as this to send the data.
