I want to upgrade the RAM of 2 Dell OptiPlex 3020 computers which currently have 4.00GB of DDR3 DIMM ram, speed 1600Mhz in one strip in the computers. Would it be OK to mix this 8GB strip with the current memory to give 12GB?

Asked by: GrayWK
The specification sheet for the Optiplex 3020 says it supports up to 16GB of Non-ECC dual-channel 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM however it would be unwise to mix unmatched ram brand and sizes better to remove the current 4GB and substitute 2 x 8GB

Will this work with 1333mhz ram arick

Asked by: JO97
Although this would work with 1333mhz ram we wouldn't recommend mixing Ram speeds on a motherboard and matched pairs should be used at the correct rating on your motherboard to avoid issues.
