Which audio formats can I listen to with the JBL Horizon Black?
Appreciate FM radio stations with rich, quality sounds in stereo from the 5W speakers on the radio. What’s more is that you can also listen to your own tunes by connecting your smartphone or similar device via Bluetooth to the radio, or through the 3.5mm auxiliary port.

The JBL Horizon Black is a perfect bedroom clock radio
Besides being relatively small in size, the radio features a white LED ambient light that gently wakes you up in the morning, in addition the JBL Horizon radio includes two separate alarms with snooze that can be specified to wake you with a choice from FM radio, alarm tones, buzzer or music from your connected Bluetooth device; providing you with a great choice of different ways to wake up. Settings will also be saved thanks to the backup battery system that ensures you will hear your alarm even if there is a power failure. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great sound, but useless to tell time (see pics) While the Bluetooth and FM radio work and sound splendid, what should offset this speaker from other wireless speakers is the clock and alarm function. Unfortunately, the clock is unreadable in anything but a brightly lit room, making this function quite annoying when it matters: when you want to check the time in the morning. So, trying to cram extra functionalities in this speaker made it a worse, in a way, which is a bit disappointing. If the light-sensor would work properly, technologically advanced would deserve 4/5 stars and overall would as well be 4/5. If all you need is to wake up at the right time in the morning or a Bluetooth speaker, just use your smartphone and buy any other speaker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be great Great sound, great build quality, good features but it could be way better. It lacks smartphone app support that can tweak and remote control some features. For example the brightness of the led is too dim in the night and it is almost unreadable. Also it can be used to control alerts, sleep timer, led light and switch radio stations. FM Radio does not have RDS and does not show radio station name. That's a miss. Some buttons are on the back and are just printed on the rubber which makes them hard to find.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a good radio alarm clock This product ticked all the boxes on paper but fell short on implementation. In terms of a radio alarm clock which should be its main function I would only give it one star, as a bluetooth speaker 3 stars. A few major design flaws: 1. Can't customize the maximum alarm volume, it increased to level 12 with maximum at level 16, but in radio alarm mode it is too loud and would wake up people in the next room. 2. Display dimmed to unreadable brightness if the room is dimly lit. Also the display is highly reflective which also make it hard to read. 3. Button or build seems to be poor quality, sometime the '-' volume button would increase volume. 4. Alarm comes on for 3 min and then snooze for set minutes, this repeat for 3 times but with radio alarm mode at the third time it would switch to FM mode and will need to manually turn it off. Don't like auto snooze and don't like alarm that don't turn off by it self. 5. Some slight static noise when not switched on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless, completely useless This has to be by far one of the worst products I've had the misfortune to purchase. The auto dimming feature absolutely destroys any credible accolades it may have got. So ridiculous in the extreme that an alarm clock cannot be read in darkness or semi darkness. So what possessed them to believe that dimming and reflective glass was perfect. Such a waste JBL used to be in high regard - this product is just so bad I just have to give JBL a wide berth from here on in.

I just bought JBL Horizon and tested it. The volume increases much too high during Alarm... Did you fix that issue ?

Problem still exists. I was fooled by them. When that day fixed, I thought that meant the user can set the volume like any other alarm. Nope. The fix just asked down the max volume issue. But it's still there. Hard to believe.

Hi The JBL Horizon does not have a built-in battery, this can only be used when there is a power outlet nearby to connect the powercable to.

Can the front light be adjusted brightness?

My Horizon appears to have developed a fault with the volume. When I turn on the radio the volume starts low, then after about 30 seconds it crackles and the volume increases suddenly to the level when it was last turned off. Can I do anything to fix it?

Hi CS, my JBL horizon has been working well for just over a year when the power utility went out the other night when it came back on again for some reason only half of the display works??? anybody got an idea how to fix this? Sadly NO CS in SA

Sometimes when the power fails, the unit emits a beep sequence. Is the beep issue correct at the time of power failure, or should the beep only sound at the programmed alarm time?

Hi. The power outage warning is correct functionality for the Horizon, and is meant to alert you so you do not oversleep if power fails.

Hello, I am in the United Arab Emirates where the weekends are Fridays/Saturdays - is it possible to program the alarm for Sun to Thurs only ? Thx

Hi Sadly there's no way to set the weekdays to Sun-Thursday on the Horizon. I can only suggest that you set the alarm to go off every day, and you remember to turn off the alarm on thursday evening before you go to sleep, and make sure you enable the alarm again on saturday evenings.
