Why would I need thermal compound paste?
If you feel your stock thermal paste isn’t providing you with the best thermal dissipation, then this thermal paste would be a good alternative for you. The nano-diamond particles within the paste mean that it is small enough to fill in small air particles, which would otherwise reduce efficient heat transfer. This results in a fantastic thermal conductivity rating of 4.8W/mK. This thermal paste is also non-electrically conductive, which means you won’t have to worry about it running off your CPU onto your motherboard or other components.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jetart CK4880 not CK4800 sold In shop they actually sell CK4880 which has a conductivity of >0.85W/m-k rather than >4.8W/m-k for the CK4800. Seems to be far poorer than the CK4800? Hence the average ratings. Perhaps I'm missing something here?

what is thermal compound used for ?

Generally thermal compound is used to displace heat from one source to a disbursement, like a heat sink or a radiator. A normal use if to be applied to a computer processor then the heatsink attached on top.
