Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pants I bought this item to use with my Garmin Oregon 600 GPS.. The GPS need`s to have batteries that that have a good charge before the unit will power on. The GPS tells me that I have an external power source. When I ride at 5.5 MPH such as going up-hill. my GPS now tell me that this power source is no longer there. but will work fine when I increase the pace. I did not want to use the dynamo and so relied upon my batteries. These ran out about 11miles from home so I put the M172N back to work. It let me down. It did not provide enough power to run the GPS and after 5miles it turned off. The GPS had a external power signal so I know the connections was good. but to no avail. This is why I bought this item so in-case my batteries fail I should have a back up. But I don't..........
