Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bulky but good I've used this for a year now having had the smaller version with the outlet lead rather than the usb socket. It's very big, but (almost) tucks away under the crossbar. I've not had the issues the other user has and gain 1-2% charge per mile on my phone on a 700c wheel (less revolutions per mph). I keep a speaker attached to it to play music and i've not needed to charge it at the mains for months. Most would prefer something more discreet, but it certainly does the job if installed correctly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pants I bought this item to use with my Garmin Oregon 600 GPS.. The GPS need`s to have batteries that that have a good charge before the unit will power on. The GPS tells me that I have an external power source. When I ride at 5.5 MPH such as going up-hill. my GPS now tell me that this power source is no longer there. but will work fine when I increase the pace. I did not want to use the dynamo and so relied upon my batteries. These ran out about 11miles from home so I put the M172N back to work. It let me down. It did not provide enough power to run the GPS and after 5miles it turned off. The GPS had a external power signal so I know the connections was good. but to no avail. This is why I bought this item so in-case my batteries fail I should have a back up. But I don't..........

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Bought this 4 years ago. It's a bit bulky, but bullet proof. I've done many 1-2 week tours around europe with this my only way to charge stuff and it's great. The guy with the poor review either got a faulty one or his device was faulty as mine works with everything.
