This is the high powered 200W version of the two models available but without built in ATU

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kenwood TS480 HX monster This power hungry beast needs a substantial power supply, be it battery or grid power, a minimum of 42 Amps WILL be required if you wish to make the most of the 200W up the pipe, (100W on 6m) ,and for those that wish to use this as an emcomm radio in a zombie apocalypse, yes it can be wide band full tx capable, from 1.6 MHz to 29.999,9 MHz then a little gap before the 6m band, yes it covers 11m but that would be a waste of this radio, during 2014 I only required 3 Watts pep SSB phone to make several contacts to Japan on 20m while field portable, what I'm saying is its all in the antenna, a resonant antenna designed and built to cover the band your working will be better for the radio,if you're looking for a tuner then the budget LDG is better than nothing to tune out the reactances on a wayward rough cut antenna or your typical g5rv,end fed, ocf, doublet etc. Conclusion if you want high power that is -3 dB full UK licence then this will when partnered with an appropriate antenna will make you smile,,if you're happy with 100W then the SAT little brother with internal ATU (antenna tuning unit) and single stage PA would suffice. DON'T SKIMP ON YOUR POWER CABLING AND FEEDER. DON'T USE RG58. otherwise have fun and enjoy.
