Rated 4 out of 5 by from The other reviews here go into detail about how good this is for talks, meetings and presentations, I'm going to explain a very different use. For months now I've been plagued by cats getting in my wheelie bins and scattering rubbish and take-away chicken bones all over the street. Now, I know what you're thinking, why don't I just padlock the bin lid, or hook the bags up to the electric mains All that is in the past now, as with this little baby I'm able to distract them simply by shining it at their feet and watch them chase it around until they're too suckered to climb the bins. Thanks, Maplin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very bright red dot can be used to emphasise talks/presentations. Very light and easy to carry. Can be used on OHP displays, Powerpoint and on monitors. Uses 3 button batteries (LR41) and is excellent value for money. It is about as bright as current safety regulations allow. Great purchase. Thanks yet again Maplins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ideal for meetings and presentations where you need to point things out at a distance. Seems fairly well made. Comes with batteries. Quite light in weight. I don't know how well it will do with sustained daily use, but as an occasional tool, you really can't go too far wrong for a fiver.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from one glaring design fault Would be great except that it has been designed so that the end screws on to access the batteries and also connects to your key ring. This means that the end unscrews in your pocket and the batteries fall out. You need to tape the end so that it does not unscrew.

What is the wavelength of the red light produced. We are a school who is using this product to measure the wavelength of the red light using a diffraction grating and so need to know whether we are correct. Thank you

Asked by: Kevin
These units are sourced from multiple far east manufacturers, the product will adhere to any required safety expectations but the manufacturer has not specified the exact wavelength employed in the device, also it may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.. If you need a module with a pre specified wavelength then something like this would be better suited.

Up to what kind of distance will this pointer still project a sharp red dot? I'm trying to find something that I can use to place on the top of a wall and then establish the same height of the wall but 40 metre away - i.e. to use as a "spirit level".

Asked by: Jenks
This lazer starts to diverge at around 20m.
