What does this kit do?
Build your own doorbell or warning system with this astable timer circuit. The circuit oscillates between high and low at a rate that is decided by the potentiometer (variable resistor). The kit has a choice of two outputs. The logic output can be used to drive another integrated circuit or a speaker (not included) can be connected so the tone is heard.

What is in this kit?
This is a great kit to learn about 555 timer chips and what they can do. The kit produces a square wave output when the switch is pressed. It works by using a 555 timer chip that you can set by altering the resistance of the variable resistor. Get experience soldering resistors, potentiometers (variable resistors), capacitors, IC holders and a switch. This kit requires soldering and may require wire cutters, a screwdriver and wire strippers (not included).

How easy is it to solder?
This kit is easy to solder – perfect for beginners. It’s also a great introduction to 555 timer chips which are used in more complicated circuits as well as GCSE students studying it. Once you’ve built the kit you may want to build an enclosure to protect it (not included), just take care not to block the switch or outputs. This kit requires three AA batteries (not included).

Can this timer be used in a live circuit to time off for 12 seconds then turn itself on again? (with the live trigger wired to the board instead of the kit's push-to-make switch). If not, do you have a timer that would do that? Thank you
