Product overview

• Make a great amp with a 3.5mm jack input
• Create an amp with 1W output per channel and 2 channels
• Minimal soldering required with 6 parts
• Requires a 9V battery or 12V power supply (not included)
• Designed and manufactured in the UK by Kitronik

What can I make with this kit?
Play music and listen to your MP3 player with up to 1 watt output per channel and 2 channels in this great amp kit (manufacturer code 2136B-JK). No need to spend time soldering, everything this kit comes with is PCB pre-built. Just plug into a 3.5mm stereo socket (a standard small headphone socket) and listen to your music. This kit requires a DC 2-15V power supply. A single 9V (PP3) battery (not included) or a DC 12V power supply (not included) are recommended.

What is included in this kit?

There’s no need to solder, as the PCB is already pre-built. All you need to connect is the 3.5mm jack lead, speakers and power clip. The kit amplifies the voltage and current of the input signal with the amplifier integral chip (a NJM2073D chip). The signal is then transferred to the speakers which translate it into sound. Minimal soldering is required with this kit – you only need to solder the speakers, jack and battery clip.

How difficult is this to solder?
This is a great kit for those who are not comfortable soldering or want to demonstrate how a speaker works. The kit comes with two 8 ohm 66mm speakers and 3.5mm jack lead. You can build your own enclosure (not included) to protect the electronics and make your own audio system or you could add an on/off switch.

Can I use a 5v supply and 4ohm speakers? If not, is there a kit that available that is suitable?

Asked by: Rodders
On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

I need a 5V powered (usb) amp or pre-amp to boost stereo from "headphone" to "line in" level. I have an Astra with line-in only and have to turn the cd audio to 100% to hear it. Would this pre-amp do this with reasonable quality, or what product would?

Asked by: Kbonovich
Yes, this would be a suitable solution.
