Tell the temperature with this thermometer kit (manufacturer’s code 2110). As the temperature changes, the resistance of the thermistor changes which alters the voltage to the microchip. The microchip uses this data to determine its output and lights the right LEDs. Experiment and see what temperature the LEDs light at.
What is in this kit?
A good introduction to electronics, this kit uses resistors, LEDs, a diode, a microchip and a thermistor. Get experience soldering components and learn what they are used for in a circuit. The voltage change detected by the microchip is caused by using a resistor and a thermistor, then the ratio of resistance between them changes the percentage of the voltage being sent to the chip changes. This kit requires soldering and may require wire cutters, a screwdriver and wire strippers (not included).
How easy is it to solder?
This kit is easy to solder – perfect for beginners. Once you’ve built the kit you may want to add an on/off switch (not included) or build an enclosure to protect it (not included), just take care not to block any LEDs or the thermistor. This kit requires three AA batteries (not included).
