• Build a timed dark activated coloured light
• Adjust the length of time the light is on for and how dark it comes on at
• Simple to solder with 17 parts
• Requires three AA batteries (not included – Order Code L43AL)
• Designed and manufactured in the UK by KitronikWhat can I create with this kit?
Keep a light shining at night with this kit (manufactures code 1039). When it gets dark the light will automatically switch on and the rainbow LED changes colour to give light for up to 30 minutes. The light is created by a diffused 750mCd LED for a fun, colourful light that changes approximately every 45 seconds. One of the potentiometers (or variable resistors) is used to change what light level is needed to activate the kit and the other one controls the duration the light is on for.
How many parts are in this kit?
Practice soldering and learn about electronics and circuits with this kit. The kit uses resistors, capacitors, transistors, and an LED. Learn how they are connected in a circuit and get practical experience soldering them. Use to create this night light and see how they come together in a circuit. The LDR resistance rises as it gets darker, and altering the resistance of the potentiometer allows you to change at what point the light level is low enough to activate the kit. This kit requires soldering and may require wire cutters.
How easy is this kit to solder?
Simple to solder, this kit is ideal for beginners learning about electronics. You could create an enclosure (not included) for the night light to protect it. This kit requires three AA batteries (not included). If you use the night light once a night for 15 minutes, the batteries will last up to 2 months.
Please note, this component is not RoHS compliant.
