What does this dimmer do?
This wireless on/off dimmer allows you to control LightwaveRF home automation devices. You can also connect the dimmer to the Wi-Fi Link to be able to control these devices through the downloadable app. You will be able to turn your items on and off as well as dim the lights to set the right mood for whatever you are doing.

How easy is it to install?
As this device isn’t mains powered, there is little to no installation. It can be fixed to any flat surface by using double sided tape and will then just need to be set up to work with the LightwaveRF devices you want to control. This device can be paired to any Lightwave dimmer master or slave units

Please note: To use the app with this product, you will require the optional LightwaveRF Wi-Fi Link A23RX.

What else will I need?
To make the most of the dimmer function, you will need a compatible LightwaveRF mains wired dimmer switch to pair this device to. This wireless device will not work without its wired counterpart. Installation and troubleshooting guides are available in the user manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product This is an excellent extension for an existing lightwaverf installation. If you have a main switch or inline relay installed, you can link this switch easily. I am currently installing a dimmer switch in my bedroom and two of these extensions next to my bed, making it possible for me to turn off the light from my bed (lazy, I know). Works perfectly out of the box, easy to install. Press pair/learn on the device you want to link to this switch, press the on button on the switch, and you have a working switch without the hassle of re-wiring your room or purchasing additional more expensive slave units.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not that great Purchased Lightwaverf remote unit 3 power sockets 4 light switches The lightwave setup is at an infant stage. When using the wifi it works ok without any problems, the commands work ok and you think, great a product that works as it should. When using remotely, my results are far from good. I have had a number of problems getting this setup to a point where I can rely on it working every time I send a command. The problem appears that the lightware servers are not sending the commands to my unit all the time. I would say about 2 out of 5 are being sent. I have had a number of conversations and support tickets with these guys and they can not find the root cause for all my failures. I have spent over Ј400 on parts for my house and I cant say its money well spent at the moment. My advice, buy a timer for a lot less

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems! Had them a months and they are working ok - except i've just discovered it's not compatible with energy saving halogen replacement. Once replaced they all stay on at a low level even when switched off.. Annoying to say the least.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Work really well and look very good, however if you intend to use the sticky strips they provide, be aware they don't last long and will fall off, they don't stay sticky for long

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Batteries supplied flat, otherwise OK I bought two of these at the local Maplin shop today. When I managed to liberate them from the excessive packaging, I found that the batteries were (nearly) flat. Fortunately I had this problem before and bought some spare CR2032s at the same time, but still it is pretty poor. The blue LED did come on, but it would not pair with a switch until I gave it a new battery. This must lead to a lot of frustration and product returns from people who do not have my experience with this product. The instructions claimed there was a plastic tab to remove to activate the battery, but this was not the case, which might be the explanation. Unlike the last batch I bought, the fascia was plastic rather than painted metal. Initially I found this did not click into place properly, but finally I discovered that this was because I'd fitted the plastic base on the wall upside down which is easy to do as it is almost symmetrical. The tiny light guide that is supposed to be at the top was (narrowly) preventing the fascia from clicking into place. Although this time I did want single gang, previously I have wanted three or four gang and for some inexplicable reason they only make one and two gang. This is weird because the combined dimmer switches do go up to four gang. Another frustration is that stockists like Maplin refuse to stock the full range of compatible LightwaveRF products which prevents the system reaching its full potential. When you are in this business you have to stock the full system as the availability of rarely used parts does drive purchase of other items in the system. People need the confidence that if they invest in the system they will be able to extend it in future.

This is a signal transmitter. Can it be paired with either homeeasy/Byron/smartwares receivers (all same brand under different names) or Sonoff receivers? (Staff at my local Maplin says yes but I'm not convinced!). Anyone confirm yay or ney?

Asked by: SparkyBird
Unfortunately as far as we are aware this would not be compatible with anything outside of the lightwave range.

Could you tell me if this is a works with nest product?

Asked by: mark
Not alone this would not interact with Nest, unless coupled with the WiFi bridge, and then some form of Smart home eco system, like Alexa or Google Home. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/lightwaverf-lw930-wifi-link-new-version-a23rx

We cannot offer full advice on mains electrical installations, this job would be best left down To qualified Electricians, if you are at all unsure we would strongly recommend consulting a qualified electrician for help and support or to complete the job for you.
