Product overview

• Fully remote controllable sockets
• Plug into your mains socket and control your sockets from the comfort of your chair or bed
• Compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Play
• Requires optional LightwaveRF WiFi Link to use the app
• 3000W rated
• Control from your smart device or an internet enabled computer from anywhere in the world
• Three sockets and a remote included

What makes these plugs different?
This plugs are part of the LightwaveRF home automation range. Not only do they come with a remote control to turn them on and off but you can use the downloadable app to do this from anywhere in the world, with an internet signal. These are also rated at 3000W which allows you to use higher rated items with them. You can use a maximum of four sockets with the remote allowing you to control four different devices.

How easy is it to set up?
To use the sockets with the remote it’s really easy to set up, just plug them in to your existing socket and link up the remote. To use them with the app and be able to control them remotely over an internet connection you will need to purchase the LightwaveRF Wi-Fi Link. This Wi-Fi link will allow you to connect to the internet with your LightwaveRF devices so you can turn items on and off.

Can this help with security?
These plugs are a great accompaniment for security when you are away from the house. By connecting with the app, you are able to turn your devices on and off as well as dim mains lamps. By doing this you can give the illusion that the house is occupied when it isn’t and deter intruders.

Please note: To use the app with this product, you will require the optional LightwaveRF Wi-Fi Link A23RX.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Works really well with an excellent range. Even better when paired with the WiFi link which allows control of sockets over the internet by using the Android app "Lightwaver". The official app is a bit rubbish.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from high failure rate on older units 7 out of 25 units failed over 3-5 year period and I had to replace them. used to switch side lights in our home - low power only. probably no more than few 100 to few 1000 on/off cycles each. no response from lightwaverf on whether they have impoved reliabilty or whether they would look at my failed units to see what has happened. abysmal customer service - no learning - no customer focus.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice bit of kit, but not 100% reliable I've brought the lightwave unit, power monitor, 3 remote sockets and 4 slight switches. I mainly use the app on droid and iPhone (note you only need 1 user for up to 6 devices) Installation of the units are all pretty simple. The docs are a little hard to follow I had to call the help desk to get some clarification on a few syncing issues. I've had a ton of issues with the setup. You need to make sure you fix the lightwave unit with an IP address and then open 2 ports require for the lightwave server, not really documented anywhere. ALSO lightwaverf can tell what you are doing with your hardware (I've not found a privacy policy on what they do with this data) When you’re using the wifi at home it works fine without any problems, When using not 3g/4g or elsewhere. Now that’s were the problems start. It doesn't always work, if at any given time you have a wifi/network problem the commands are not sent to the unit. This has happened to me a ton of times. I have replaced my ISP router and cables with the lightwave unit. It seems the problem is when you send a command remotely the lightwave servers do not send the command. I have been in contact with the support team and they can’t really do much about this problem. I have also been connected to a lightwave server that has crashed which means my personal lightwave unit goes offline, until I reboot it. I have logs of all the support tickets if anyone cares to read into the problems. My advice if your reading this, I would say don't spend your money on these units just yet. It's a great concept but I have way to many inconsistency issues. They need to fix a few issues with their apps, need to add some kind of logging, meaning if you send a command via the app, if the lightwave unit doesn’t run your action then after a timeout the app informs you. I was told just send the command a few times, which to me for something as expensive as this. Not a good marketing slogan I've spend over Ј400 on lightwave products and wish I just brought a random light timer for Ј15 Only 2 stars mainly the cost of the hardware and the amount of problems I've had. It would be just 1 star but working lights from your phone when home is pretty handy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unit failed after three weeks One of the plug in devices failed after only a few days in service. I have now switched it out for another one, we shall see how long it lasts. Lightwave have been pretty good products up 'til now, so I was surprised

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and simple to use I have a total of 8 sockets with the Link box and my iPhone. Everything works great in and out of the house, I had no issues setting any of it up. It's been running for several months now and have started to use it for my parents, would have to issues recommending them.

Hello  have about 25 of these ( from other suppliers ) round the house purchased over 3-5 years ago.  Now 8 failures.  Do you know if lighwaverf have improved the reliability of these units.  Obviously looking to replace the failures with LWRF or similar

Asked by: Richard
I do not get any calls about faults with the item, but the best place to ask would be lightwave direct

Will this link from within the house throughawall to a garage ?

Asked by: wimbornewill
They should be perfect for such use, it really depends on the construction of the property, the remote works using radio frequency technology and it will pass through walls./ceilings etc. I recently used these to remote control my external Christmas lights (plugged into a socket in the garage) and was able to turn them on and off from inside the house through a double skin breeze and brick wall.
