How does this magnetic switch work?
The LightwaveRF Magnetic Switch is designed to be attached to a door or window. The switch works by sending a radio signal when the contact between the two parts is broken, for example when the door or window is opened. When this happens it will send the command to a LightwaveRF receiver to turn lights or even the heating on and off.

Can you set a timer with this device?
It is possible to set a time delay with this switch. This allows a set amount of time for the device to keep a device on, for example a light, before turning off again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to operate and it works I'm gradually working my way through the LightwaveRF product range and this was next on my list. It works as a 'on' (when the two parts of the switch are separated) and off (when they are bought back together). Pairing was easy enough (not yet sure how to unpair though?). It does what it says on the tin.a kit I can see uses for it in turning on/off lights when a door is opened, but I'm struggling to see how it could be used as a security alert (aside from pairing it with a power switch that turns on a simple alarm when power is applied). There's a gap in the LightwaveRF range: it would be a useful addition to have a facility for sending an alert to, say, a phone app - even if this meant partnering with another OEM supplier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A welcome switch Fitted to my existing LightwaveRF system so as I open the front door the hall light turns on for 4 mins ( Adustable 0-20 mins) allowing me to set all the other controls in operation. Well worth the cost. Very pleased with the order & collect service as well.

Can this be connected to a LW930 WiFi Link and use IFTTT to trigger further actions?

Asked by: Alex
These can be paired as a trigger to the WiFi link, however at this time there are no pre-made IFTTT applets for the magnetic sensor trigger.

Will this switch notify me on my phone when a door is opened (i.e.) can it be used as a remote alarm notification even when my phone is not connected to the same wifi network ?

Asked by: Joe123
Unfortunately not, this is designed to be an activation switch for a device connected to a Lightwave socket. It would not push any specific notifications regarding activation.
