The Linksys Velop whole home mesh networking system uses an array of individual Velop nodes to amplify your home WiFi signal. This makes it possible for you to enjoy the fastest network speeds with the elimination of network blind spots, or zero areas with a low or intermittent signal.

The twin Velop nodes use AC4400 dynamic tri-band technology with MU-MIMO per node to ensure that your wireless devices connect at maximum speed, irrespective of the number of people connected to your network. The Velop is great for accelerating your wireless network for streaming applications, wireless gaming, browsing the web or downloading a vast amount of data with no slowdown or broken connections.

Stay connected
The Velop whole home WiFi system uses a single SSID (or network), this means the Velop mesh system automatically connects your device to the best WiFi node, for optimal signal strength and maximum speed. Each of the Velop nodes share the same settings and passwords so when you are connected to one node, you are in effect connected to all available nodes throughout your home. This allows you to stay connected to a full strength 100% WiFi signal without degradation as you move throughout your home

Built to grow
Homes come in all shapes and sizes and, because of this, wireless speeds slow as you move further and further away from your router. Sometimes connections disappear altogether, making your network difficult to use for even the simplest of tasks.

The Linksys Velop has been designed with scalability in mind. Each additional Velop node lets you expand your wireless network by up to 2,000 square feet should you need to cover a larger area. This means you’ll receive the fastest, strongest possible WiFi signal whether you are in the bedroom, kitchen, living room, bathroom or garage.

Simple to setup, easy to control
The Linksys Velop uses the intuitive Linksys app (Android and iOS) to set up and manage your whole home WiFi network. Simply connect the Velop to your network modem and use the app to name and create any passwords for your network. Then, expand your newly formed mesh network by placing additional Velop nodes throughout your home.

The Linksys app lets you monitor WiFi usage of connected devices, and puts you in control of your network. Use the Linksys app to restrict access to websites or create times when devices can or cannot connect to your WiFi network.

Alternatively, the Linksys Velop has been designed with full compatibility with the Amazon Echo smart control speaker. Command and interact with your wireless network using voice control when connected with the Amazon Echo.

We were using TP Link adapters plugged into the mains network and they just weren't giving us the coverage we needed. So, having read the reviews we replaced them with the Velop system which gives really good coverage even 50m out in the garden, which, when it's going through a really thick wall, is amazing. I had a problem with renaming one of the devices when first installing and called LinkSys for support. They were really good. Not too long to wait; knowledgeable and helpful operator who got it fixed in no time. You gets what you pay for and these are really very good indeed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unchained my Broadband This is technically my first ever Amazon Review, however I feel compelled to write this to ensure other prospective buyers take the plunge. First let me set the scene I have a large family with an average of 7 people living in the household however we can and have up to 10 people on most days. Each member of the family uses the internet with gamers and constant streaming all day every day. I have recently transferred providers from BT to Virgin Media. I have the brand new VM modem and we are on the infinity 2 package. I risk getting very technical here so for the non techno phobes I will try and speak in the simplest terms as I can. With the area we live and the Infinity 2 package I can get up to 100mbps as my download speed and up to 5mbps as my upload speed. This means that when I'm downloading data (opening a website, downloading a file), I can get up to 100 megabytes of data downloaded per second hence Mbps. The average fibre optic speed is approx 50Mbps, and in reality we receive about 35 to 40Mbps. Although our house is not a relatively large house we do have some dead spots, meaning the internet signal is not great. This is due to the modem wifi signal being a mixture of 2.4 and 5Ghz. The primary differences between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth. 5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance, whereas 2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds. Meaning the closer I am to my Modem the better the signal, the further away from the modem the slower the signal. I have had the Linksys Velop system for about 3 months now and the difference was incredible from the moment I connected it. So what is it? The velop system creates a WMN or A wireless mesh network, this is a communications network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology. It is also a form of wireless ad hoc network. A mesh refers to rich interconnection among devices or node. So your velop system connects to your modem and then connects to nodes that are positioned in specific locations around your house. This creates the rich mesh interconnection between your internet to your nodes. So what was the incredible part, well firstly because the nodes are positioned around the house I now have no blind spots, and receive a perfect signal every time likewise for the speeds I have completed a little test on my iPad using speedtest.net. In the picture below you can see my results. The day I set up the Velop system was the 14th Feb 2017, the first result of 44.05Mbps was just the VM modem, the 118.61 and the 87.51Mbps were with the Velop added over double the speed. I decided that as I was doing the review today I would try the test now (13th June 2017) my first 215.34Mbps and the 219.16Mbps were on the Velop system, with the 2.63Mbps as the VM modem. Now I am completely unsure why the VM modem was only 2Mbps but the speed of the Velop system is amazing over 100mbps of my expected amount. Setting up the system was simple download a mobile app sign in follow the on screen prompts and you are up and running. Be sure to think carefully where your nodes will go to create the perfect mesh network. The app is great and has so many different settings for all levels, it even tells me if the internet has gone down no matter where I am in the world. Any bad points? Well some of the older Wifi electronic devices connect ok, but don't seem to enjoy that huge speed. For example my old Sky HD box runs at 20mbps with the PS4 at around 50Mbps. Yet my IPad, IPhone And Amazon Fire Tv Stick all run at over 200Mbps. To me this is a must for any household we really couldn't live without it.

Reviewed for Linksys Velop 2 Pack The app worked well for the setup process, but after updating the both nodes with the latest firmware the app would not show which nodes clients were connected to and even showed some wireless clients as connected via Ethernet. After a restart of both nodes all seems well, there are a few limitations with the features available. The Velop system itself seems very capable and I am getting transfer speeds (not internet speeds) of over 1000Mbps which is 6 times more than with my previous AC3200 router. Roaming seems to work quite well, especially with Apple products, others have more of an issue and hang on to the other node longer than they should. 1. Parental Controls You can set a time schedule for blocking internet access, but only in hourly blocks, I would like finer control over this, 10 minute increments would be perfect. 2. Node Assignment Although the app tells you which node each device is connected to (which is great) you cannot manually assign certain devices to a particular node which would be very useful for static devices. 3. Wi-Fi Band Selection Some devices which are capable of 5Ghz are connecting via 2.4Ghz even though they are very close to a node. 4. iPhone X Support The app is not optimised for iPhone X yet which means a very small UI. 5. DDNS Although you can manage a DDNS setup in the web browser UI (which Linksys make quite difficult to access) there is no option for this on the app. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and the app is a great companion for monitoring and changing settings from anywhere, there are some features still missing, hopefully they’ll be added soon.
