How does this light help wake me?
The Lumie Bodyclock brings you gently out of sleep by slowly illuminating. This helps bring your body out of deep sleep, reducing the production of melatonin the sleep hormone, and increasing hormones like cortisol. This gives you the much needed boost at the start of your day and is perfect if you suffer from SAD.

What is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or ‘winter depression’ is linked to reduced exposure to sunlight, which may affect your production of melatonin, serotonin and disrupt your body’s functions and patterns. Melatonin is a hormone that makes you feel sleepy, and serotonin is a hormone that affects your mood, appetite and sleep. Lower serotonin levels are linked to feelings of depression. Your body also uses sunlight to time various important functions, such as waking up, so the lower light levels during winter may disrupt your body clock and lead to symptoms of SAD and general fatigue.

How can the wake up light help combat the effects of SAD?
Using this wake up light for a few hours at a few centimetres away will help increase your levels of serotonin and decrease your levels of melatonin, this in turn will brighten your mood and make you feel more awake – giving you more energy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Look forward to using it eventually. Sadly the most important part of this wake up light alarm is the light bulb which was broken on arrival. ! So once I have bought a replacement light bulb I'll let you know how I'm getting on with it.

What are the white noise settings please? I'm guessing you choose how long you have the noise at bed time. 30mins or an hour? what are these settings? Can you adjust this noise volume? What does it sound like, a hiss?

Asked by: ecbrighton
The white noise settings are in line with the alarm settings, you can use white noise to wake you up instead of a standard alarm setting. The volume of this can be changed and this will sound like a fuzzy hissing noise like you would get on an older TV that has not been tuned in.

I have the version of this with the US plug and when I used an adapter I think I blew the fuse, is the fuse replaceable and if so what kind do I need? Also, is there a special type of converter I can get where the fuse won't blow? Thanks!

Asked by: iz111
If you have the US version then you have a device that operates at 120v ... by plugging it into a UK 240v supply it likely have been damaged your item beyond repair.
