Light up your garden events
These great looking RGB solar string lights are perfect for a range of outdoor events. With each light at a distance of 10cm apart you can hang them exactly how you want for your desired effect. The lights have an eight to ten-hour lifespan, meaning they will last the duration of your social event after a full charge.

Dual power technology
These fantastic solar lights contain dual power technology, which gives you an efficient and consistent light all year round. The lights contain an alkaline battery to boost your power when the solar batteries run out, meaning your lights will stay as bright as you need them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great no hassle lights I've wrapped these lights round the trunk of my apple tree and they look fantastic. The solar charger is small and sits discretely in the ground and the lights were easy to unbox and install on the tree. There are several lighting settings to choose from with the speed at which they can flicker, but I've chosen the always on setting so that now as soon as it gets dark, my tree lights up beautifully. Once the winter comes i can put batteries into the charger which i'll do once they stop coming on automatically, i would guess in October.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great having duel battery and solar Had these lights a few weeks now and they are working well. Good choice of modes and easy access to battery. Only complaint is there is no timed option so when solar runs out and lights go on battery only, they continue to run all night unless you physically switch them off (and back on in morning to charge solar). means that in Scotland in November they run for about an hour a night on solar then use battery for next 10 hours, half of which you are probably sleeping. A 6/18 timer would have got these 5*. Version i got only uses one battery so it needs changed every week or less at the moment to keep them shining bright.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought these lights to add a festive feel to our front gate, taking in to consideration we couldn't guarantee the sunshine to power them. Oh how we were surprised. They're bright, take little sunshine to charge and certainly last until after I've gone to bed! They have various settings for light sequence and even has a battery supplied when there's insufficient sunshine to power them. I paid £5.99, and was fortunate it was on bogof, but would definitely spend the nominal extra for them. Nice one Maplins, definitely a thumbs up from me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I bought 4 sets of these lights to mystify a tree in order to attract fairies (for my daughter). However on one of the sets, only 1/2 the lights work. Although my daughter hasn't noticed, I have and would not buy these again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They seem like a bargain, but they're not worth bothering with I bought these lights to use on a tiny Christmas tree in our garden but they're a waste of time, for 2 reasons: 1. The string of 20 lights isn't enough to cover even a small tree. Each light has to be clipped onto a branch, but the length of cable between each light is short, so you're constrained as to where you can place them - you can't space them out evenly. 2. They don't hold their charge. I took the battery out of the unit and charged it up before installing them (I've learnt from experience that this is the best option in winter). Fully charged, they gave a very subtle glow. But the next day, they didn't light up at all. The solar charger was high on a wall where it gets plenty of light, so I'd expect them to last a bit longer than 24 hours. I'll be returning them. I guess you get what you pay for with solar products. Buy cheap, buy twice?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice display Thought these would be good for outside Christmas time and no wires coming through windows. Well they give a lovely display of colour and am very pleased think I will get some more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing Bought these for outside at Christmas thinking the dual power was a really clever idea, but they only lasted a couple of hours each day, even changing the additional AA battery made no difference, so either they aren't charging properly, or the rechargable battery is no good. Shame because the twinkling effects are really good but not so good that by tea time they are already fading :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply lovely Bought these led outdoor solar lights and they are great. Easy to put together and because of the battery they keep going. Decorated my trees and door for Christmas.

Will the lights still work without the batteries ie solar energy only, or are the batteries needed to be in situ all the time. My previous lights had some sort of batteries in which were kept charged by solar to run the lights.

Asked by: Colin
The system needs the batteries in situ in order to operate

Why do rechargeable batteries not work for the stand by mode?

Asked by: Geoff
This would be due to the lower voltage of the rechargeable batteries being 1.2V per battery rather than 1.5V, the standby would believe it did not have the right amount of power.

These lights are labelled as RGB. Does this mean they are colour changing bulbs or just multicoloured bulbs with static hues?

Asked by: Maria R
'Set the colours you want with these multi-coloured bulbs, lighting up different areas in different colours for added effect.'

It says motion activated, is this correct or only dusk activated? How long is the cable between the last light and the solar panel, I'm calculating it at 1m (100cm) but is this correct?

Asked by: Shaun
It says "Motion activated No" To indicate the item is not motion activated. "200 white solar lights spread over 20.9m" you have 0.9m between the solar panel and the first light.
