Reliable recording on the road
This Maplin Dash Cam is an excellent choice for recording events on the road in a 1080p HD quality to help reduce insurance quotes and assist with making a claim. With sufficient lighting, you’ll also get great quality recordings when driving at night. You can watch a recording back on the 2.4 inch built-in screen to review any events that have happened. The built-in G-sensor and GPS will allow the Dash Cam to record the position and route of the vehicle as well as any impacts or sudden course changes so that the event is protected on the memory card in the event of an accident (memory card not included). The Dash Cam also uses a date and time stamp on all the recordings to help you prevent any dispute.

Plenty of storage space
This Maplin 1080p Dash Cam uses a class 10 micro SD card, between 2GB and 32GB, to record any event. A 32GB memory card will allow you to record approximately six hours of your journey. When the memory card becomes full, an auto loop function will allow the Dash Cam to begin recording over existing video files in chronological order. Once the memory card is installed, the Dash Cam can be suction mounted directly onto the windscreen and is powered with a built-in Li-ion battery or the in-car power supply. The Dash Cam will automatically turn on and start recording when the engine is started.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fastest microSD cards still too slow ??? The recording quality is great. The user interface is poor as I recall. The issue (with the other reviewers, unit not recording) - on mine it wouldn't cycle-record (continuous recording overwriting oldest file) because it briefly displays an error then stops recording. The error corresponds to microSD card writing speed too slow. This was with at least two, different branded, different sourced, 32Gb CLASS 10 cards. It would record fine for around 20Gb, then give the error. I could still use the empty 10Gb in another device. Am now using a different unit with same capabilities, which was on offer for fourty pounds and have had no problems with that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disapointed Brought this last week to put in my work van, set it up yesterday which was very easy. It was on offer at half price I was going to get a cheaper unit but thought what a bargain!! I like the design , the compact nature of the unit and the way it fitted to the windscreen Tried it today it worked perfectly for about 2 1/2 hours then crashed. It stopped recording and I couldn't turn it of until the battery ran out. Tried the SD card and was impressed with what it had recorded both in vision and sound. Must remember not the talk to my pet dog companion or to myself so much. Hopefully just a glitch. I am going to try again tomorrow, now I have reset it up again. If if plays up again its going back. Which will be disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted 3 months at most Bought 3 months ago when on offer and I've just realised after attempting to review some video that it's not working and hasn't recorded anything for Some time. The DVR activates with an audible sound but does nothing else. Very poor quality and I definitely would not recommend

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fair quality Picture, BUT, build quality is poor. I have used this for about 8 months, and the (poor quality) fitting has broken on the back of the unit, I have had to use superglue to fix it hopefully permantly. This now makes it awkward to use. I cant return it, as I cant find recite...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappoints on so many levels! Initially looked like a nice camera, but: - Records when it wants to (on the day I had an accident I had a great recording of stooping at the service station to refuel, but nothing for the next four hours, up to and including my crash)) - Wont store the date, despite resetting numerous times - Awkward user interface All in all, I have never once retrieved anything useful from this camera, it was a complete and utter waste of money

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good camera, but... I bought this to replace one of the garage 'cheapies', which failed physically. It is much better, but let down by electronic weakness, ie it crashes very frequently, loosing date and time settings. Sorry, but score 1.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor battery support I bought this product for over £75 and after less than a year the battery has failed not a good buy!!!!!

I already have this camera installed, what I want to know is; can a second camera be installed in the rear screen to monitor following vehicles, taking into account my car has factory fitted darkened glass

Asked by: nonplussed
It would be possible to fit the second camera, however window tinting will have an effect on visibility depending on the level of opacity. As such we would be unable to fully guarantee that the camera would work exactly how you want it.
