Product overview

• Bright 10W LED floodlight with PIR that automatically turns on when movement is detected
• Ideal as a deterrent to would-be burglars or as guidance light for when you leave or arrive at home
• IP44 rated for outdoor use
• Longer lifespan of up to 50,000 hours - energy saving LED uses less power than traditional halogen bulbs
• Very wide beam angle of 180° for improved lighting coverage
• 180° detection range up to 12m away

What would I use this security light for?
This security light detects motion over a wide 180° range and automatically lights when movement is detected. Not only is this useful as a deterrent for any potential intruder, it can also serve to guide you to your door when positioned correctly. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for outdoor use, whilst the 10W LED bulb saves money over traditional halogen bulbs.

Why would I buy this instead of a standard floodlight?
Standard floodlights are manually switched on or off, whereas a light with a built-in passive infrared sensor (PIR) provides greater convenience and security. In addition, the duration of time for which the light remains on once activated is adjustable between five seconds and seven minutes, providing the ultimate in flexibility. The PIR will detect motion up to 12m away.

What can I expect from the LED floodlight?
The 10W LED floodlight provides up to 600 lumens of 6000K light giving you a bright enough light to use in commercial and residential premises. In addition to this, it also has a wide 180° beam angle to give you larger light coverage of an area. This additional coverage adds to the security of your home giving you a greater peace of mind knowing you have a deterrent in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware. There are two models. There are two models. One black and the other silver see images of product shown at different angles. The black one is brilliant. It comes with cable and is very bright. The silver one comes without a cable I had to buy it and open casing and is a lot less bright. The black one also has a third control for sensitivity range. The silver one does not. I bought the black one first. I then bought another but was sold the silver model. It is definitely a poorer product. 10/10 for black model and 3/10 for silver. My rating of 5 is for black model only.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality item If you end up with one of the white ones, I'd avoid it, they are of poor quality. The first one had to be returned because I could not adjust the lamp timer, the second unit is far too sensitive and sometimes flashes for a sub-second when not triggered, very odd. The fact that there is no lateral adjustment on the PIR limits the positioning of the sensor. I'd spend a bit more and get a better quality item. The 1 star is for the fact that the light output is good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First one lasted 3 months (low voltage PSU went faulty that drives the LED), unit flashes for about 0.5 second when triggered. Units seem well made and compact size. I hope the second one will last longer. Store replaced without any issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made, easy to install, but because there is no cable with it you need to be reasonably electrically competent and careful with connections. It gives ample light with minimal consumption of electricity - too many lights now waste power lighting up the night sky. So I was very pleased with it at first. BUT because of my particular installation requirements (I needed it pointing almost vertically downwards) I mounted it with the PIR above the lamp, and after a few weeks and wet weather it stayed on permanently. Condensation was apparent behind the PIR translucent screen, and sure enough on dismantling it, water had got inside. Fortunately a thorough cleaning where possible and a couple of days drying out on a radiator and all is well. So it is now mounted with all the PIR joints and control knobs covered with a liberal application of good quality Duct tape. Yes, normally the PIR unit would be to a certain extent protected when mounted with the lamp unit above it. But really it should be properly sealed. Something to watch out for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just Poor Okay while it lasted but that was only few months before it started flashing like some disco strob light. If I were the Maplins buyer I stop purchasing this item and replace with a better quality light that will last. Wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice while it lasted Gave a nice light output whilst it worked but unfortunately only lasted lasted less than a month. No water ingress so seems weatherproof. However LED flashed and took out the fuse which I replaced, But same again after replacement. Returned to store with no problems and purchased something else instead.
