About this product

Product overview

• 30W mains powered soldering iron that allows you to start soldering by simply plugging the iron in
• Heats up in 10 minutes to give you a stable and constant temperature so you can complete all your soldering tasks
• Temperature ranges from 420°C to 460°C, depending on wattage, allowing you to store heat in the tip to aid the melting process
• No restrictions on how long you can use this soldering iron as it is mains powered

Do I need to assemble this soldering iron?
This soldering iron is assembled and ready to go out of the box. Simply unpack the iron, plug it in to a mains socket and wait for it to warm up and it is ready to go. The tip can be easily replaced. When the soldering iron is cold, simply remove the grub screw and slide the tip out of the iron before sliding in a new tip and replacing the grub screw.

What difference does the wattage make?
The wattage of a soldering iron is one of the most important factors when deciding which one to buy. Higher wattage will deliver more power to the iron’s tip, allowing it to heat up quicker. As this is a 30W mains soldering iron, it heats up the tip within ten minutes, allowing you to start soldering without having to refill butane tanks or replace batteries.

Do I need anything else for this soldering iron?
The soldering iron itself is ready to go out of the box, simply remove the cover and plug it in and it will begin warming up to temperature. The only other thing you need to get started is the solder itself. Within ten minutes of plugging in the iron, you will be ready to begin soldering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good, worked better than expected. after 13 uses I had to replace the nib, the nibs cost near to nothing, but it was replaced and ready to use in 5 mins. I recommend it to anyone who wants a quick soldering job or want to create an electrical circuit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had this unit for about 2 years now and have used it 20+ times. It needs a new nib but other than that has been perfect when used. One downside is that I think the cable is fairly short. If I work at table height and its plugged in at skirting height then the cable strain interferes with precise positioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did what it had to, bought as a replacement for my old one, which randomly fizzled out on me. Tip lasts for a fairly long time before it needs replacing, cable is fairly long too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic soldering iron great quality and the tip lasted me for 7 years. It's not a professional soldering iron but I does the job very well

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just doesn't get hot enough to do any useful work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I've bought 2 of these soldering irons now and both of them died after less than 5 uses each. Would advise others to buy something better...
Date published: 2014-11-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful The worst soldering iron I have ever had the misfortune to use. Junk.
Date published: 2014-12-14
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not hot enough at tip Only melts solder further up nib, not at tip. Frustrating in use. I suppose you get what you pay for- so will be buying a more expensive iron.

would this be suitable for 4 AWG cable
Asked by: Mosin
No sorry this product is unlikely to support cable of that gauge (4 AWG is quite a large cable to be soldering).
