What can I do with this small router?
This Wi-Fi router lets you plug in a 3G USB modem into the router to establish a 3G wireless network. It supports a range of USB modems to provide you with the 3G connection (GSM/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+, CDMA/EVDO, TD-SCDMA). The N150 Wi-Fi standard provides you with good transfer speeds within the network and range too.

What is the Ethernet port used for?
Depending on what you want to use this device for, as a Wi-Fi router or a hotspot, you can change it to serve either purposes. The Ethernet port on the device can be used to share your existing network which comes from your cable or ADSL modem, or a LAN cable from your office or hotel. Alternatively you can share your existing wireless signal to multiple devices.

Do I need to install anything to get this going?
Plug and play device, just plug in your 3G USB router and log into the web based interface to configure various settings for your router, such as passwords, the mode of the device and more.

Is this difficult to carry around?
Measuring in at only 23mm x 63mm x 15mm (W x D x H), this device is extremely small and can be easily transported when you are travelling. Powered by a micro USB cable, you can connect the USB end to a USB wall adapter, computer or a power bank to provide it power. This gives you a versatile amount of options to power the device, which is great when you are out without access to the mains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works brilliantly, is super versatile, cheap and tiny I've been using mine regularly with a ZTE MF112 3G/HSDPA+ modem that originally came from Three. I'm quite techy so I've unlocked my modem and disabled the virtual CDrom feature (or in linux you have to 'eject' the virtual cdrom drive to make the modem visible) and had no problems with this setup. Performance is good on the wifi the range is about 2-3rooms away with solid walls for browsing, closer for streaming. I've used it to bridge WiFi to wired connections, I've set it up to act as an access point to create an wireless connection connected via Ethernet cable. I most often use it to create a cheapo mobile hotspot. Not perfect at it but good enough for me! You can even run it from a 2ah USB power pack for around 2hours in this config. The versatility of this, its size and price make it a super handy piece of kit Just don't lock the WiFi type to just N as it doesn't seem to like this. Oh and set a WiFi password!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Instructions Works fine on 3 internet dongle. The instructions are just too brief. Plug the router and dongle in. Reboot. When the router has power light and the dongle light is steady green, its ready. Most important, do not start your usual 3 internet software. If you inadverdently do so, reboot and do this again. Instead, click the wireless icon bottom right of your system tray. You will see the new wireless connection there. Click it and connect. Voila

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult to find which USB 3G sticks it will work with it. Instruction guide that came with the unit says ensure 3G / 4G compatibility contact your seller. Unfortunately little manufacturers data or model number included so service providers do not recognise it. Very disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasted a few hours I purchased this yesterday and it worked well the first day but now for some reason I can't get any wi-fi connection from it and I can access the setup menu even with an Ethernet cable connected. The user manual has very little in and when I asked for help from an assistant at Maplin over their chat they just disconnected!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It will share internet but the firewall is ineffective and dangerous. I was looking for a convenient and cheap way to split my USB broadband connection whilst also having some form of protection from a built in firewall. The device doesn't work with the latest dongles, so make sure if you are going to use this you are using it with a dongle which is a few years old. After waiting around the router managed to connect to the internet through my old 3G dongle. FANTASTIC! I was able to connect a number of devices to it; the instructions say upto 20! In an effort to secure the network and firm everything up I proceeded to turn the firewall on and do a 'shields up' test. To my horror there are more open ports than a sinking ship! If you are looking to use this for any secure work, don't! The interface is reasonably quick however, the firewall's settings are useless, don't even bother changing them as they don't really do anything. The router's ability to share internet is good, however once a few devices are connected you do see a noticable slowdown. With all things being equal, this is a £2 device. If the firewall was more secure then I would be giving it a glowing review but I simply don't trust its security.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy little device I mainly use this with an old HUAWEI E173 dongle that I unlocked - (An E1752cu and Vodafone K3565 also Work but huawei E3131, Vodafone K3770 And huawei E3231 don’t work). Gives decent reception and works well with a 1200mAh battery pack from Poundland. Did have a problem where I accidentally switched the WiFi mode off from admin and needed a computer to switch it back on. In order to switch the WiFi mode back on, I didn’t connect a usb dongle but did turn it on using an old Samsung charger (5V@2A) rather than computer power and then connected it via Ethernet cable to a home computer. It fired up first time so I could go in to and turn the WiFi mode back on. It does get warm to the touch so please don’t think it would conk out on you as I have had mine on for 8 days straight and it’s absolutely fine. Plenty of modes that I didn’t quite understand and probably won’t ever use but if you stick it on “Smart” option, it basically does what you want it to do. One disappointment is that you can’t network select in the admin option so if you are using this device on a USB dongle whilst roaming, it will just connect to a network - not necessarily the one you want to roam with!!! Also the reset button in the side doesn’t actually reset the device, but by following the step where you connect it to the Ethernet of a home computer, you can get in that way to locate a missing password a change it accordingly! One word of advice would definitely be check your power cables and amps of your usb wall socket. 5v@1000mAh is enough but that could all be wasted if your usb cable is of poor quality!
