What is USB?
Commonly found on desktop computers and laptops, USB (Universal Serial Bus) connections are one of the most versatile types of connection available. USB is primarily used for transferring data between devices, but it also has the ability to transfer power between compatible devices.

Four versions of USB currently exist, with different maximum transfer speeds: USB 3.1 (10GB/s), USB 3.0 (5GB/s), USB 2.0 (480MB/s) and USB 1.1 (12MB/s). In most cases, cables are compatible across all versions – but maximum transfer speed may still be limited. For example, a USB 2.0 cable in a USB 3.0 port would only provide a maximum transfer rate of 480MB/s, not 5GB/s. To achieve optimum transfer speeds here, a USB 3.0 cable should be used.

Why use this USB 2.0 C to C cable?
This cable uses USB 2.0 C to C connectors, which are mainly used to connect a new generation of tablets and smartphones to your desktop, laptop, Mac or charger. The USB C connectors allow you to transfer data between the devices and charge the device at the same time. The cable provides a maximum speed of 480MB/s and can power and recharge a device up to three amps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted. I bought a Dell XPS15 laptop and was sorry to realize that I had two high-speed USB ports and one high-speed one that I wouldn't have much use for. This adapter does the job: it just lies out 14cm from the PC and gives me a third high-speed USB port.
