Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worth the money, but buyers should note: 1. There's no 'buzzer' continuity test. 2. You need to ensure the connectors are pushed fully in. 3. Battery and fuse change is not obvious, undo the two screws under the stand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy Dad Bought this for my Dad for Christmas, his face lit up to match the lights on the tree! I sought advice from a professional engineer before purchasing who said "this is the one I'd choose for myself" - recommendations don't come much better than that!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Intermittent readings, no voltage shown though mains voltage was present - you can get a reading if you waggle the sloppy plugs about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from N19BW MULTIMETER When looking at this multimeter on the web site there is a little confusion due to it showing two different multimeters, the one i purchased was the blue N19BW. i have a large meter but required a small robust meter and this ideal, it does give a audible sound on continuity tests, and on offer at £12.49 half price i thought it was good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well done Maplin! Bought replacement leads for an old meter - didn't fit! Returned and no problems. Decided I need a new meter and this one fits that need. 1. Good price 2. Does all I require from a 'cheap' meter. (Also own an AVO 8) 3. Has a number of nice features. Large clear display, Backlight, Hold reading.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not great worked fine for voltage (only checked it on 12v dv) and connectivity. for amps it claimed the same reading despite changing the scale. eg. on 10a setting: 0.15 amps. on same circuit 200 milliamp setting: 0.15 milliamp reading, on 20m setting: 0.015 milliamp. on the microamp setting it always read 0. always gave a resistance read out of 1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've just spotted this item and it looks a good bit of gear, (well designed and useful item) my son-in-law gave me one awhile ago but as his was stolen he asked if he could have it back. As he is an electrician he needed it more than me, so this looks like the ideal replacement for me.DG.

Can a car battery be checked please? Using the 10A connection and with the battery disconnected. I just don't fancy melting/exploding the tester!

Asked by: Peter
If you are testing for voltage, then yes, if you wanted to test the amps, this would be well over the 10a rating.

Testing 1.5v button bat's (allegedly new) the meter displayed a V of approx 0.8v, and this V constantly dropped if terminals were not removed from the battery. AA, & AAA bats (1.5v) registered a constant 1.5v. does this button bats are poor.

Asked by: Gavvo
I *think* you have to put the batteries under load for testing with a multimeter. A battery tester doesn't require this though
