From the picture this looks like an 18+1 pin DVI? Is that correct?

It's a DVI-A connector This means it utilises the analogue pins on the DVI connection to facilitate connectivity to analogue VGA displays or computer outputs. The socket you are connecting into MUST be equipped with a DVI-A socket or DVI-I (DVI-I is a combined digital / analogue connection) for more info on the types of DVI-connections available and their capabilities check here

Socket on my monitor is dvi female, socket in computer is vga male Can I use that converter to convert dv1 to vga? but please notice that computer is giving signal from vga to dvi monitor
