About this product

Product overview

• A twist-on F plug designed to suit a variety of different satellite and TV cables• Suitable cables include CT100, RG58, RG59 and CT125 etc.
• Common fitting found on many external TV antennas

To fit the connectors simply strip back the cable's outer sheath exposing the braiding by 20mm then fold the braiding back on itself. Cut the centre insulation back around 17-18 mm exposing the centre core, the cable is then inserted into the plug and the plug is "screwed" onto the cable. Ensure you have around 3mm of the core protruding beyond the end of the plug.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from maplin's overview is wrong just wanted to bring this up. when it says to Cut the centre insulation back around 17-18 mm exposing the centre core. you actually only want to cut the insulation back 6.5 mm not 17-18mm as this leave the core exposed to the inside of the connecter when its screw on which can result in short circuits as the inner can touch the wall of the connector. I think it should read as follows. cut back the outer by 20 mm and fold back the outer screen to 17 mm. cut inner insulation back 6.5 mm exposing the inner core by 6.5 mm. please conform if this is right.

I was just talking to Luke about this issue. My brother in law has chopped through his sky cable. I need the male and female connectors plus the self amalgamating tape to fix it.The types were sent but line went dead

Asked by: ColinC
You could place one of these on each end of the cut cable and then join the two ends with wrap the whole thing in amalgamating tape However in my own experience it doesn't matter what steps you take to seal the join, water will find it's way in and stop the system from working. If the break in the cable is outside then I would recommend that the cable is replaced in it's entirety.
