Connect HDMI equipment to VGA displays
This handy HDMI to VGA adapter will connect modern laptops or computers to monitors, TVs or projectors which only have VGA connections. This handy gadget is a must have in the laptop bag.

Quick and easy setup
This adapter is quick to set up, all you need to do is plug it in. The most common HDMI adapters are in the box so you can be up and running straight out of the box.

Full sound support
Whether you are wanting to plug a pair of headphones in or a full surround sound system this is the adapter for you. The jack connection is compatible with any standard pair of headphones or set of computer speakers and for a surround sound experience the optical connection is compatible with the majority of 5.1 surround sound systems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I ordered one of these devices online yesterday and it was delivered by courier today. My laptop has no VGA output, just a HDMI socket, so connecting to a normal projector to display presentations, videos etc was impossible. I plugged the device into an old flat screen monitor, clicked on 'duplicate display' in Windows control panel... and problem solved. The device is powered from a USB port, the input is handled by the supplied cable from the laptop's HDMI to a mini-USB socket on the device. Output is via a normal VGA female socket. A couple of spare cables handle mini-HDMI etc. Excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent little device. It does exactly what you need it to do. 5V DC power is via the supplied USB cable from the laptop. HDMI signal is converted to VGA. The resolution of the display device is the limiting factor with the converter auto-sensing the maximum display resolution available. A variety of HDMI cables are supplied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from On my 3rd I bought my first one lasted a week . Then next one a month and today I'll be returning this one . I looked online many people having the same issue . Light in the optical hole stops coming on or flashs and that's the end if the box. Maplin staff have been good so far and exchanged but there is clearly a fault with these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek & Eficient I have had this for a couple of months now and it is really excellent, it does exactly what I need and it is small and sleek enough not to be too obtrusive - perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought this back in December and has not worked since This converter was functional for about 2 weeks and then it stopped working. I tried multiple power supplies, HDMI cables and devices, all to no avail.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No HDCP support This isn't HDCP compliant, so to use with a Playstation 4 you need to turn off HDCP. This prevents many apps (Netflix, Spotify etc) from working, but it will then connect to vga. If you're looking for an adapter to work with a Ps4, don't get this one if you want full functionality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Gadget. I bought this HDMI to VGA adapter so that I could connect my new Laptop to an old digital projector.(L'top no VGA socket). it is a simple to use device that works perfectly. The only downside is that the laptop speaker system is cut off and you need to connect an external speaker via the converter. (This can of course be the projectors own speaker). Reliable and good value for money. Highly recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money Purchased this and it decided to not transmit sound but in fact cut all sound out. Waste of money and time

will this allow me to play ps4 on my monitor

Asked by: eshan
Yes, I am pleased to advise this will allow you to do this, but you will need to disable hdcp on the ps4, which may prevent some content working.

After about 5 - 10 mins the sound turns off, it is only solved by running the sound directly from the laptop by changing the audio settings in the playing programme.  Windows 10 on an acre aspire ES 15 using Cyberlink Power DVD 12 (supplied with laptop)

Hi can this unit be used with a fire stick to transmit tv programmes to a lcd monitor with a vga connection? Or maybe a now tv box ? Or what about a freeview receiver ? thanks

Asked by: dave512
Support for HDCP enables the monitor to display HDTV resolution if connected through the HDMI or DVI connector. A monitor without HDCP support, or connected through analog VGA, causes the displayed video to be downgraded in quality to a DVD-like resolution that is less than HDTV. HDCP is also a content protection system. HDCP prevents transmission of non encrypted high definition content. So probably not.

Is this product compliant with Windows 10?

Asked by: Anonymous
This device converts video signal - and has no need for an OS. It will work with any HDMI source and convert it to VGA regardless.
