Product overview

• Supplied with 4 x 2400mAh extra-high capacity batteries• Recharges 1 to 4 AA or AAA size NiMH or hybrid batteries at a time• Usable on worldwide mains voltages• In-car power adapter allows charging from a car’s cigarette lighter socket• 'Negative delta V' detection switches off charger immediately the batteries are fully charged• LED display for rapid charge/trickle charge/bad battery detection

This compact charger is supplied with four extra-high capacity (2400mAh) AA batteries. It will charge these in around an hour and can charge lower capacity batteries (1300mAh) in just 40 minutes. The added feature of a ‘switch mode’ power supply allows this charger to be used around the world (travel plug adapter required). For keeping the kids charged on long journeys the charger is also supplied with an in-car power adapter. Please note that this charger is not suitable for charging NiCd rechargeable batteries

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have had 2 of these chargers over the last 2-3 years or so and generally found them very good. Fast charging and flexible (yes you can charge 3 batteries at once!) they were brilliant! However more recently they seem to have trouble charging higher power batteries (2500-2700 Powerex for example), showing flashing red LED's after a few seconds on 1 or 2 of the slots. Sometimes swapping them round after a few minutes fixes the problem, occasionally I have to dig out the old steam-powered slow (18 -hour!) charger to get them started for an hour or more, then this charger accepts them OK and charges them up! I will try the new LCD model to see if it's any better in this respect. For 2000-2400 mAh batteries this is great (and for 1000 mAh AAA's as well although it flagged most of my original old 900 mAh AAA's as duff ...).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely brilliant. Had one for years now and works like a charm. Individual LEDs per battery gives status for each, so batts with different charge levels can be inserted, and you know when each one is done (LED for that batt goes green when done). Also detects when batteries have reached end of life (LED for that batt will flash red), however do not trust it first time, try a different slot as sometimes it seems to get it wrong when it is close to EOL. Been using with AAs and AAAs from 600mah to 2400 mah and all work brilliantly. Definately does charge very quickly. Not used with the car charger yet as I lost the car charge cable just after I bought it. Also, the mains charger just died on me (My own fault I think - the power went out in house and when I flicked the circuit breaker back on I think I blew the mains charger) so I will get another for the car and keep the new unit plus the car charger in the car and use the mains charger from the new one for indoors. No user changeable fuse in included mains charger but I know the charger unit survived as I used an adjustable transformer to check. Maybe I should have hit 4 stars for the lack of fuse, but still a great charger - although I seem to remember I got it on sale, current cost is a bit much maybe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was after a charger which I could use in the car for charging instrument and torch batteries. The packaging stated it would handle NiMH/NiCd/Hybrid batteries, however when I read the instructions inside it said it should only be used on NiMH. I have both types so took it back and the shop staff were very accommodating. Exchanged for another which claimed to do both types and would charge 1-4 batteries. Once again when reading the instructions it turns out that it will only handle 2 or 4 at a time (not much use when my kit takes 3!). Returned to the shop and decided to go with the original charger and change some of my batts to NiMH. So far it seems to work perfectly both in the car and the home, so 5 stars for performance, less 1 for incorrect packaging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really does charge quickly. I'm delighted with it. And it *can* charge single batteries, or just 3. A good product.

just bought n41bx battery charger. Plugged it in and red lights followed by green lights flash across all 4 batteries then no lights show. Is this OK or is unit faulty?
Asked by: G Horsfall
Red means that fast charging has commenced, then green for trickle charging, when the charger believes the batteries are full the lights will go off completely to show charging has finished.

Can this really charge 3 batteries at a time? I''ve been looking for a charger that will do 3 at a time, rather than insisting on doing 2 or 4 at once.
Asked by: JP
Yes the product does support that.
