Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a lovely little product, really pleased with it. The discharge and then charge cycle ensures batteries are properly discharge prior to recharging as apposed to running my zoom lens backwards and forward to try and discharge the batteries, (this method does not work adequately) With this charger my batteries are lasting longer in the camera which is very high drain with the motorised lens. And so far the Maplin 2500ma batteries are performing just as well as my previous "ouch! they are expensive" batteries. LCD display is clear and informative, all in all a very nice product Maplin, Thanks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from About 5 years ago I bought one of the 1-hour chargers (without LCD display) and 2 years after that I bought another one as they were so good and I sometimes need to charge more than 4 batteries quickly. One problem with that model was that sometimes it flags batteries up as end of life (flashing red) when it isn't actually too bad - swapping batteries around in the slots or giving an initial charge on an old slow charger frequently fixed the problem and they then charge fine. But - sometimes they start flashing after a few minutes, so of course you come back after an hour and one of the batteries still needs charging. Frustrating! So I bought this LCD charger as I thought "new design - must be better - perhaps it's not as easily fooled into thinking dead battery as the old model!" How wrong was I In fact, not only is it just as bad as indicating duff batteries when they're actually OK - it then refuses to charge ALL FOUR instead of just that one! So you come back after an hour and NOT ONE of the batteries has charged up. More than frustrating - just stupid! So back it went (no problems with returns - thank you Maplin) and a third original design (non-LCD) charger was duly purchased instead which has proved as good as the originals. If all your rechargeables are new you may not find a problem, but if (like me) you have been using rechargeables for about 7 years or more you will be driven mad by this version!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought the charger about 18 months ago & have only used it half a dozen times. To reduce the size of the battery charger compartment (for AAA batteries) a plastic 'connector', with the metal terminals to connect to the batteries, slides forward. This plastic connector broke near one end (don't know why as it wasn't mistreated or damaged) As a result I can't charge AAA batteries and have to use sticky tape to hold the connector in place so I can use it for charging AA batteries (but only 2 at a time now).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This was a great little charger but now it point blank refuses to charge more than one cell at a time, I have 7 or 8 sets of four so it's really frustrating. I'll have to replace it really but I'll be more careful what I buy

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This was a great charger but after a few months started to report my batteries as 'bad' Like a few other people here I threw some away before trying them in another charger where they were absolutely fine :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product. Easy to use. Most cheap chargers available in general stores charge 2 or 4 cells at a time. This is annoying when recharging something like my Ever Ready head lamp which uses 3 cells. Allow the cells you are recharging to cool before putting them back in delicate equipment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I've had this charger for 18 months, the biggest problem is false "bad" readings, swapping the position of a cell in the charger often fixes the problem, but until I realised this I'd sent loads of cells for recycling when they were probably OK

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good ordering system and delivery. Product is good but it replaces an identical one that is a little variable in its working and is not long outside warranty, but I thought it was good enough to buy another
