Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Bought 6 of these batteries and 2 out of the 6 were faulty and will not charge. Not recommended, there are better buys.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from High failure rate We use a lot of these but have been having problems with batteries not holding charge so we bought a smart charger (N41GZ) that both tests and charges them. Of 15 of these batteries, 14 came up as bad (93%)! Some of these are less than 12 months old. Other, much older batteries we have from other manufacturers came up with much lower fail rates (3 from 9 (33%)) .

Are these batteries suitable for alarms and how long do I charge them for.

Asked by: Ben1
We would not advise the use of them in smoke alarms so it would depend on what alarm you are on about. The charge time would also depend on the charger you are using and how fast it chargers the batteries.

Which is the right charger for these batteries?

Asked by: Graham
Any PP3 NiMH charger should be adequate (not NiCD charger), but I personally recommend an "intelligent" charger to avoid overcharging the cells.

are they a true 9 volts and not 8.2v

Asked by: brian
These are not "true" 9v batteries, the label states 8.4v nominal, meaning that these batteries are 7s1p stacks. They will output a max voltage of 10.5v fresh off the charger, they will quickly reach ~8.4v and plateau there for ~75% of the discharge before quickly dropping to less than 7.7v when depleted (recharge them at this point). This will makes these batteries suitable replacements for primary ones in most circumstances, but not all. Check with the OEM to find the lower voltage threshold of the device you intend to use them in; if it is >=8.4v, then these are not the right batteries for you. I would like to point out that both of the above answers are completely wrong and should hence be removed from the site.
