Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this to anybody wanting a rechargeable set up, For the following reasons. 1.The charger is big and bulky and is slow at its job of recharging the batteries. 2 . The batteries them selves i have found to be fine when charged but there is a sizing problem the seam to be a bit larger than other manufacturers standard sized AA and AAA batteries. Due to this they can become stuck or the damaged when trying to insert them. This is not in one item this has been in a number of items from torches to xbox360 controllers. So it does suggest there is a problem with the suppliers here. I use a lot of rechargeable and most are AA or AAA for torches and stuff, i have had this set up for sometime now but never got around to reviewing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I placed an order for this at 11.30am and it arrived at my house before mid day the following day! 24 hour delivery a fanastic service MAPLIN. The product is great value for money and uses only 5.5w meaning it will use a unit of electricity 11.5p every 181hours of charging (7 uses) Far cheaper that disposable batteries! Only probelm is the 25 hours to charge the batteries and that there is no charge complete light on the unit. It doesnt get hot and can be left on overnight safely in my experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bizarre - this is clearly designed to take 2 AA Batteries in each slot to accommodate the supplied 8 batteries but then states only 4 at a time. Bloody awful bulky design for 4 batteries and as a unit frankly misleading. The reason I bought it was to charge more at once and on the shelf it looks designed for this. Annoyed and will take it back. I already have 2 plug ins that take 4 each and are vet small and effective. The light even goes out when they're charged!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This charger only charges a maximum of 4 batteries at any one time

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cheap way to purchase batteries with charger. I've had two of these for several years. They're a good value, basic charger. Yes, they appear bulky, however, they will accommodate 4x 'D' batteries (or 1-4x AA, 1-4x AAA, 1-4x C or 1-2x 9v). If you only want to charge AA/AAA batteries, then these may not be what you're looking for, as there are much smaller chargers available which will charge these. If you want a universal charger, then this is ideal. Mo, it's not the quickest, but it charges the batteries effectively.

Sorry, idiot questions - know nothing about electronics. 1. How does charger show when charging complete ? 2. Significance of the 2 red lights ? 3. How is the tester result displayed ? 4. What is the function of ' Discharge' ?

Asked by: Fannyk
1. The charger does not tell you when charging is complete, this is only known by you charging for the right amount of time, then turning off the device. 2. Solid red lights means the device is charging as normal 3. Flashing red lights mean the battery has failed the health check and will not be charged. 4. Discharge is used to fully flatten the batteries so they will last longer in the long run, rather than recharging the same part of the battery.

I have a bluetooth keyboard using alkaline 2 AAA batteries (working voltage 1.9 - 3 V). can I replace them with rechargeable NiCd or Hybrid batteries?

Asked by: JohnD
I can't see why not Rechargeable cells typically deliver 1.2v, as long as your keyboard uses 2 cells you should have the voltage required.

how do I know when the batteries are fully charged. I have had them charged overnight and the red lights are still on. I've also tried the batteries in a MP3 player but nothing.

Asked by: Jane
This item should have a sticker on the bottom that tells you the estimate time to charge the battery's you are using.
