This 8-way charger is an ideal choice for anyone who requires a quick charge time for charging bulk quantities of AAA or AA batteries. For maximum flexibility, the charger is supplied with two power options (mains and in-car) and is supplied with four AA 2000mAh and four AAA 950mAh NiMH batteries. A great choice for keeping radio-controlled cars on the road or for high drain appliances such as digital cameras.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have been looking at other makes and they all have off putting limitations or bad reviews and are still expensive where as this one is good value for money, charges fast, does 8 batteries in one charge, comes with 8 batteries as well as charging the up to date hybrid batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The actual charger - recently stopped working, and upon testing the mains power unit (supplied with the charger). I discovered that it produces 18 volts (instead of the 12 volts it's supposed to produce). I think this excess voltage may be the reason the charger has stopped working. It has been a good charger, and I plan to buy another BUT I will test the mains power unit to make sure it's producing the correct voltage. It's extremely common for MPUs to misbehave and it's very risky to just assume they are producing the correct voltage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor termination of charging This is a very basic charger. User sheet is very uninformitive It appears that termination is controlled by an 8hour timer only. Hence smaller capacity NiMh will be overcharged, and hence overcharged, reducing their life. Even the supplied 2000mAhr AAs will be overcharged if left for 8hrs. I suppose this what to expact at such a low price though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is a basic unit There is a guide to how long each battery should take to charge but there is only a basic timer that is on or off. The only way to be sure is to run the batteries flat first then charge them for the suggested amount of time. OK value for money but with that drawback.

The correct batteries have been charging for more than 24 hours, yet the red light has remained. Surely it should turn to green when batteries fully charged?

What capacity are the batteries that come with the charger. The spec just says high capacity. What does this mean?

Do any of the battery chargers have an output dc voltage greater than 1.2v

On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

Is the red light supposed to go out when the batteries have charged? According to the instruction timings, my batteries should be now charged- however the lights are still on.

The Red light indicates charging, when it goes off the batteries are fully charged.
