What is twin phono used for?
Twin Phono is also known as an RCA connection and carries two mono signals across each Phono connector, which are combined in audio equipment for stereo sound.

The Maplin Pro range of cables provides uncompromising quality that is compatible with the next generation technology. Hardened fabric-braided finish with gold plated connectors contained in a hard wearing metal housing all backed up by a life time warranty as standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely made cable - good vfm I needed a 3.5mm stereo jack to twin XLR Y-Splitter cable for a L/R microphone recording application. After comparing various similar Y-splitters on the Maplin website, I finally chose this product because it looked professional. I ordered it on-line and my wife collected it for me from the Cambridge Beehive store that afternoon. It came nicely packaged and presented and was indeed well made with a good, solid encapsulated splice from which the L&R leads emerge. The outer covering of the cable is braided - very much like you would find on an electric iron. Because I needed XLR connectors, the first thing I did was to cut off the two rather nice phono connectors - a bit of a shame, I know but didn't want to go down the multiple-adapters-joined-together route ... been there, done that many times before! This application was for a live one-off recording so I could not take the risk of any buzzes or loss of signal. I did notice, however, that there is no outer braided shielding - something that you would usually expect to find on a shielded mic cable. Instead, the cable appears to use a conductive outer dielectric shield with a stranded copper drain wire to hook up as the earth/return signal. I did try to measure the conductivity of the outer dielectric, but it didn't seem very conductive to me... However, that aside - the cable worked perfectly and I would definitely recommend it. Perhaps Maplin ought to make an XLR version ;)
