Multi-coloured, crackle effect
This Maplin RGB Solar Crackle Ball Light provides elegant lighting for your garden. The orb shaped topper provides a crackle effect, and you can choose from either a white light, or a multi-coloured cycle, to get the finish that suits you. A built-in dusk till dawn sensor will turn the light on at dusk and then automatically turn it off again at dawn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unnerving instructions The instructions cover 15 lines and tell you to fit the battery in the battery compartment, without telling you where the battery compartment is - or indeed where the battery is that is supposed to go in this battery compartment. In looking for the battery compartment you will discover that removing the leg uncovers not the battery compartment but the on-off switch, a small but still important detail omitted from the instructions, probably for reasons of space. The instructions are best read in the dark. There is a good reason for this, as the orb comes with a pre-installed battery, which is triggered when the orb is in the dark. Without this information you may never discover that the orb will work without a new battery being installed. Ours was a chance discovery made when the box we laid ours in started to glow. Now that the technical challenge of installation is over, and our Orb is glowing contentedly, it looks just like a LED light in a glass orb. The LED has been on for 4 hours now and counting. It does what it says on the box, hence the four star rating (They were also half price which helps). All I have to do now is clear my diary and plan to be home on sunny days as the Instructions for this solar powered light actually go on to say: 'never leave charging batteries unattended'.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish I bought 6 of these for the garden. 1 off them the top keeps falling off, and the instructions are so bad, if I hadn't of accidently pulled the post off the bottom of one, I would never have found the on/off switch to get the working
