Why use SCART?
SCART is a standard method for transferring composite and RGB video signals with stereo input and output signals for audio down a single cable. These cables are commonly used to connect DVD players, satellite/cable or Freeview boxes to televisions that lack HDMI capabilities.

Why use triple phono cables?
Triple phono (or RCA) is another method of connecting devices to a televisions that lack HDMI ports, which is also suitable if all available SCART sockets are being used. The video and audio signals are split into individual phono cables, typically the phono connectors are colour coded to give a visual representation of the signals they carry. Yellow cables are for video signal, red are for a right channel audio signal and white are for a left channel audio signal.

Why choose Maplin cables?
The Maplin range of cables features premium construction and specifications, with market-leading cable technology. The Maplin cable range features hard-wearing cable construction with colour-coded, compact connectors available for almost any use. Can't connect my DVD/Video player to my new smart TV because TV doesn't have a Scart socket. Will this cable allow me to connect the DVD/Video player to the TV?

Asked by: BigLouis
Provided that the TV you have has a triple phono connection then yes this would be fine. However, if you want to go to HDMI for example you may need something like the product below https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-scart-to-hdmi-adapter-with-audio-extractor-n70en
