Triple Phono is also known as an RCA connection and carries a composite video signal alongside two mono audio signals, which are combined in AV equipment for video with stereo sound. Most consumer equipment colour codes yellow as video, red as right audio and white as the left audio channel.

What is the other end of this cable? I'm looking for a 3.5mm jack to plug into a portable DVD player (the 'AV Out' port') and then output via the 3 RCA connectors, is this cable suitable?

Have a Roxio kit to transfer vhs to DVDs. Am using a combi tv with a scart connection on the back. Can I use the Maplin triple phono composite video cable ( as I have no video cables ) to connect to the scart adaptor provided and then plug this in to TV?
