Commonly found on desktop computers and laptops, USB connections are among the most versatile type of connections. USB is primarily used for transferring data between devices, but it also has the ability to transfer power between compatible devices. Currently four versions of USB exist – USB 3.1 (10Gbps), USB 3.0 (5Gbps), USB 2.0 (480Mbps) and USB 1.1 (12Mbps). In most cases cables are compatible across all versions but maximum transfer speed may be limited. For example, a USB 2.0 cable in a USB 3.0 port would only provide a maximum transfer rate of 480Mbps, not 5Gbps. To achieve optimum transfer speeds here, a USB 3.0 cable should be used.
Why use USB-A to USB-A cable?
This cable uses a male USB-A 2.0 to male USB-A 2.0 connector, and is uncommonly used to connect devices that use a female USB-A 2.0 port in place of micro or mini connections. This cable provides a maximum of 480 Mbps when both devices are USB 2.0 compliant.
Please note: This cable is not recommended to be used as a file transfer cable between two computers.
